Summer time in England can be unpredictable at the best of times so having a good array of shoes to see you through the hot-ish months is essential. I have collected my four most worn shoes to create this capsule shoe collection for you and as you can see from the photo, they are very worn and much loved. Hopefully you will know by now that I do not buy clothing and shoe items very regularly as I try to invest in a more capsule wardrobe, so most of the shoes wont be on sale anymore, I will find alternatives for you.

Starting off with the pair of shoes which shouldn't be included in a summer shoe collection but of course they need to be, is a good Chelsea boot. On them days when the heavens open but it is still 20 degrees, these are a prefect shoe to pair with a little skater dress with some sun kissed bare legs. This black pair is very old from Newlook but are still is pretty good condition considering the number of times I have worn them over the years.

My second pair of shoes is the classic brown sandal which goes with almost every outfit in my wardrobe. This pair is again from Newlook and are super comfy to wear on long walks and in the hot weather. These are my go to pair when we have just got home from work and want to go on a walk straight away.

My last two pairs are a little more smart but also classics pairs in spring and summer. I think that loafers go with anything in any season so having a black and white pair are a staple in your shoe collection. My backless white pair is from Shein and my black pair are from - you guessed it - Newlook (they really do have the most comfy shoes). These are great for work with a nice summer dress or when (if) I go out to see people and socialise. My most worn outfit is a white shirt, blue jeans and a pair of loafers.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1033931283900897496.post-54995495993131212232020-07-23T14:07:00.000+01:002020-07-23T14:07:20.037+01:00Office Friendly Summer Outfits

I love dressing up for the summer weather and this doesn't stop when I am picking my outfits for the office. Some offices are very lean about what employees can wear and some offices are not, so knowing what you can get away with in the heat can be trial and error.

Luckily my work are very comfortable for the employees to wear - to a degree - what we like. I have a few outfits which although I am entirely covered up, might not go down well with other companies. With that in mind I thought I would make a post on some fail safe outfits to wear to the office when the heat is just that little bit too much. I have two dress options if you are allowed to wear them and if not, don't worry, you don't have to sweat all day!

1. Midi dresses
Whoever invented midi dresses is my hero because they are so flattering on small people like me and they also mean I can get some well needed ventilation up the skirt! If you employer is quite modern they would have no problem with a midi dress as they only show a little bit of ankle, which is perfect. My favourite midi dresses to wear to work are normally solid black or a black pattern so that I am in keeping with the standard dress code.

2. Wrap Dresses
Another dress style which is great for the office is a wrap dress which comes around knee length, they completely cover you and look smart with the right pair of shoes. The best thing about them? your legs can breath in the muggy heat. What could be better!

3. Jumpsuits
If your employer isn't too keen on dresses in the office, go and buy yourself a smart jumpsuit. These are great for many reasons but the main one for this time of year, they are great because they look like a top and trousers without the added materials to sweat through. I find when I tuck a shirt into a pair of trousers in the summer, that extra material is a magnet for sweat and we don't want that while we are sitting at work. Again, you can't go wrong with an all black or black and white patterned jumpsuit for the office.

4. Culottes
It is no secret that I am a big fan of a pair of culottes and they come in very hand in the summer time. They look smart with whatever you put them with and they ensure great ventilation in the office. You really cant go wrong with a pair of black culottes and a white shirt if you dress code is smart with no variations allowed.

I have quite a few Pinterest boards for office outfits, working from home outfits along with outfits for every season so make sure to hop over for a look!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1033931283900897496.post-43802386863133889982020-05-15T10:34:00.000+01:002020-05-15T10:34:08.489+01:00My Daily Routine in Isolation | Working From Home

<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">I have really been enjoying reading peoples routines while staying at home and working or just enjoying trying to enjoy the time they have at home with their families. I have been working from home since the middle of March so it has been a long few weeks at home. I have mentioned before that it took me a while to get into a routine that worked for me and even now, six weeks along, I am still changing things up.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">I thought giving you a little run down of what my week days look like might remind some of you that, you don't need to do anything during this time apart from come out of it the other end. I have previously made a post of activities to do while you are stuck at home either during the weekends or all through the week if you aren't working.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Starting right at the beginning of the day I like to still get up around the same every morning and keep the same routine so at 7:15am every morning my alarm goes off. I like to sit on my phone for 5-10 minutes adjusting my eyes and prepping myself for the day I've need a lot of prep these last few weeks. Once I am awake I wonder around our bedroom in the dark picking my outfit for the day, I've made a post of some of the working form outfits I've been wearing lately. Once I have my outfit sorted I then go down to the second floor and do my usual skincare routine which I have also shared with you recently I have been on it!
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">

Just before 8am I start on my makeup and I don't always do this but some days, I feel like by doing my makeup, I have much more energy and motivation.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Around 8am I go downstairs and enjoy a little relaxing time before I am due to start work. I make breakfast if I can be bothered and watch a little morning tv. I have always done this but the only difference now is that I have an extra half an hour to watch the tv.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">At 8:55am I moved into the kitchen, make myself a drink to take up to my office and load up my laptop. I check my diary first of all to see what I have planned for the day and then check my emails. I am a finance assistant so my day consist of invoicing work and paying bills so I have a lot to keep on top of.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">I try and press on and work right up until I have to physically eat as I find I am 100% more productive in the morning so I try and get as much done as I can before I stop for my lunch break. For lunch I like to switch off and watch Netflix or YouTube, depending on what kind of work I am doing I can have Netflix on in the background for back ground noise.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">After my lunch I try to keep the work light and quick as I don't have that much motivation in the afternoons, I focus mainly on planning the following days in my diary and ticking off my jobs for the day. I switch off at 5pm and make my way downstairs to chat with Callum and plan our evening. Depending on the weather we like to go for our daily walk round our village and chat about our day to each other. We normally walk for an hour -hour and a half and after that I tend to sort dinner to get it out of the day. I meal prep two weeks ahead once Callum gets our food shop so I always have the ingredients ready to go.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">Once dinner is in the oven and I am comfy on the sofa we normally switch on Netflix as there is never anything else on, I do have a post listing all my favourite shows to watch on Netflix. After watching a few things together I tend to go up to bed around 9pm and read a book to fall asleep to. I find if I stick to my normal bed routine then my life still feels normal.
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "Trebuchet MS", sans-serif;">This has felt like the most boring routine I can write about but I guess, everyone is in the same boat so I hope you have enjoyed this little walk through. I hope you are all keeping motivated and entertained!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1033931283900897496.post-80496551972290608242020-05-12T16:44:00.000+01:002020-05-12T16:44:56.400+01:00A few birthday additions to my skincare collection | Haul

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I have only recently added some new skincare products to my collection and I took you through these products in my New Skincare Items I've Added To My Collection blog post but I had my birthday at the start of April and as it wasn't a conventual birthday, my family decided to buy me some skincare items and get them delivered to my house which was a lovely surprise.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">As I mentioned in my earlier blog post taking you through my current skincare routine, I have been focusing on keeping up with my skincare routine while I have more time at home (trying to look on the bright side) so these new products will get a lot of use this year.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Firstly, before I knew I was getting skincare for my birthday I also made a little order of my own from Origins with some money I was given for my birthday. I knew I needed a new moisturiser as my current Lacura Facial Cream only have a couple more uses left. After looking online at the Kiehl's website and lusting over the original Facial Cream, I decided to go with a trusty favourite of mine which is the Origins GinZing Energy-Boosting Gel Moisturiser. I have used this product for years and mentioned it countless times on the blog so I knew it would be a great addition back into my collection.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Along with the moisturiser I also decided to buy myself the Mask Medley Collection for a great price of £30. I normally buy my Origins face masks at Bicester Village to save on the pennies and this pack have 3 masks I have never used before and the Maskimizer which I have used already and, even though I can't say whether it does have any benefit to my skin, I do like to add it in to my pamper routine. I may be a gimmick but I didn't pay full price for it so who cares!
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Including in the medley is the Maskimizer which I have mentioned, Drink Up 10 minute hydrating mask, Mega Mushroom Relief and Resilience Soothing mask and the Clear Improvements Charcoal mask. I shall write a post after I have used these mask over a considerable period and let you know how I get along with them.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Next up is my present bundle from my sister from Clinique which is another of my favourite skincare brands. I have tried to find the bundle she purchased so I will link each individual product for you. Including in the bundle was the Clarifying Lotion 2, Take The Day Off Balm, Moisture Surge Moisturiser, All About Eyes Eye Cream and Dramatically Different Lotion.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">All these products, except for the clarifying lotion, I have used and love many times before and in trying to use up most of my skincare products, I have ended up with not a lot of Clinique products left. As you can see from my very messy skincare draw above, I have a lot of different brands that I am currently using skincare wise but the majority of my collection is made up of Origins, Sukin and now Clinique.
<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">

<span style="font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">If you would like a skincare collection tour then let me know and I can group the similar products together and post them as individual product collections. Last year I went through a stage of using up a lot of my skincare products and trying not to buy anymore until I was left with a small collection, but since discovering Laura Edwards on YouTube I now am really excited to discover new products and try new formulas. If I am stuck at home for any longer, I might just spend my days in face masks and dressing gowns. Unknownnoreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1033931283900897496.post-65884046686049411842020-05-11T13:48:00.000+01:002020-05-11T13:48:42.051+01:00The dreamest kitchens you can find on Pinterest<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">I have recently become obsessed with watching Josie - Fashion Mumblr's - moving vlogs which document her and her partners move from London to my dream living location - The Cotswolds!
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">This inspired me to update my very popular post where I collected photos of my favourite Old Fashioned Cottage Kitchens, to date this has been one of my most popular posts so I guess, everyone has the same taste in cottage kitchens as me. <span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Before i take you through my favourite kitchens currently on pinterest, i thought i would introduce you to another youtuber who i have recently become obsessed with. Jessica Rose Williams is another youtuber who lives in the Peak District in the cutest little cottage house. Take a look at her Minimalist Cottage Home Tour video on youtube, the house is G O A L S.
<span style="font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif;">Moving onto the actual photos which will feed your old fashioned interior shaped hole, as you will be able to see I tend to steer towards more green kitchen cupboards with loads of wood features. Some of my other favourite features to lust over are farm style sinks, open shelving, wooden beams, aga and old fashioned industrial cookers.
With so many people now living and working at home, finding some inspiration for meal times can be tricky. I love cooking but I will be honest with you with the state of the supermarkets, I had zero motivation to cook anything.

Now that I have shaken that off and stocked on some necessities from the shop, I thought I would list a few of my favourite meals that I am planning to make while staying at home, in the hope that it might give people some inspiration. And please remember that these are all dependant on whether you have the ingredients at home, good luck getting some!

Now don't get your hopes up, none of these will be ground breaking. I am a simple cook :)

Good old simple tomato pasta and garlic bread

Homemade pizza made from naan breads, pitta breads and bread rolls

Sausages and mash

Slow cooker chicken roast

Herby baby potatoes

Chicken in a bag with potatoes

Stir Fry

Slow cooker curry

Homemade wedges - these make any dinner that little be better!

Pie and mash with lots of peas and gravy

Sausage roast in a pan

Shredded chicken in pasta

Toad in the hole

Pasta Bolognese with lots of leftovers

A giant lasagne if you can find both sauces!

Sausage Casserole

Chicken tray bake

I have a list of meals I want to make/cook/bake while I have time at home so watch this space for that post. It would be silly to not try out some new dishes while I am home all day. The more meals I can make at home, the longer it will take us to get bored and lose our minds.

Also feel free to read some of my other food related posts where I go into more details on how to make them! Lazy Girl Guide To Cooking | Favourite Home Cooked Meals

My spring wardrobe doesn't have a long way to go now since I started practicing having a capsule wardrobe this time last year, so I started investing in timeless pieces last spring and these have all come out of storage now.

I can see that there are a few odd little pieces which I am missing from my capsule. You will notice that all of the items are plan and neutral off course because I am all about the neutrals in spring. My colour palette is mainly creams, beiges, green along the white and black basics I keep in my wardrobe throughout the year.

Take a look at some of the items i'm on the look out for this spring-

Cream/off white Cami
I wore my black cami top to death last spring summer so I know a cream or off white version will get so much wear in my wardrobe. You can pair these will so much and make so many different outfits with them so this is on the top of my list to buy.

Cream Blazer
An essential in most peoples wardrobe and something I am seriously lacking in! I am picturing blue denim jeans, a cream cami and a cream blazer on top with some loafers as the perfect spring outfit.

Green Trousers
I am trying to steer away from wearing black trousers during the spring and summer months so I am on the look out for a pair of comfy paper bag waist trousers to pair with lighter coloured cami tops and shirts. I love a green and brown colour palette when I have a tan so hopefully all this sunbathing in the garden will give me a nice even tan.

Blue Jeans
I am still on the look out for a nice pair of light blue denim wash jeans which are either mom style or straight but are on the slimmer side. I see some many people wearing light blue straight jeans and they look amazing, then I order a pair or try on some in store and I have the way they look on me. Hopefully one day I'll find a pair that sort my shape.

White Shorts
To complete my shorts collection all I need now is a pair of white shorts. I also ready have a black denim pair and a two comfy smartish pairs in green and oatmeal so a green pair with will perfect to make a few more outfits in the hotter months. I am imagining a all white outfit with a white short and then a tan bag and tan shoes, that is something I an pinning continuously on Pinterest.

Beige Trench Coat
I have as some people may see, jumped on the bandwagon and now want a trench coat. I think a light coloured camel/cream trench would get so much wear in my wardrobe over spring summer and even autumn time. My only long coats are my winter boyfriend style blazer coats which are just too heavy to wear outside of winter. I would like to find a second hand vintage trench so that it has a bit more character then the coats being made today but god knows if I will be able to find one.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1033931283900897496.post-50474692993869742382020-04-22T12:56:00.000+01:002020-04-22T12:56:55.244+01:00Isolation Outfits FT Working From Home and Bank HolidayThis is a follow on post from the Working From Home Wardrobe Edit post that previously went up.

Finding my way with dressing for work while at home has been a journey and now that I have a routine for the week and feel some what adjusted to my new 'normal', I have found my home working style.

From my previous post I mentioned items which I was finding the easiest to wear at home to work in which I found made me feel productive, but also super comfy. I have a selection of working from home outfits to show you plus two bank holiday weekend outfits as a bonus. All of these outfits first appear on my Instagram account so make sure you head over there to see my daily outfits first. Enjoy!

I have a love hate relationship with skincare and right now, I am really in love with it.

It must be something to do with having more time on my hands but I am at it every morning and evening and that hasn't happened in a very long time.

My skin is really loving the TLC (apart from my chin which after a few weeks of no skincare, lots of chocolate and wine is erupting in loads of mountains) so I thought I would give a little update on my routine since my last post was December!

I have only recently been using different products during my morning and evening routines so unlike my previous posts, I have split these down for you so enjoy!

M O R N I N G

The first product I use to wash the dirty off of my face is the Sukin Foaming Facial Cleanser which I got in my trio pack for Christmas. One of the things I really like about this product is that it has no frills, just plain good product which actually works.

Once I have washed my face I like to go in with a toner and the one I have been using recently is the Clinique Clarifying Lotion which reminds me of the Glossier Solution toner. They are both great at really getting into your pores and actually doing something deep within them.

Once I am all fresh faced and feeling clean I like to use the Glossier Super Bounce Serum to give myself a little extra moisture before I apply my actual moisturiser. I have found since working from home and spending more time in the sun that my skin has really needed a extra something. The serum paired together with a moisturiser also makes a great base for makeup.

Last up I have my two moisturisers for the day time and I am so sad that I am nearly out of one. I firstly use the Origins Refreshing Eye Cream which is a pale pink colour which makes it great to brighten your under eye (and god knows I've needed that lately).

My everyday face moisturiser is the Lacura Facial Cream (the product is limited edition but you can shop their other products here) which is a dupe of the Kiehl's facial cream which I am drying to try. The Kiehl's cream is around the £45 mark and that is just too much to pay for one product right now, I'll still to my £25 Clinique Moisture Surge thank you! I bought this moisturiser late last year as a whim as It was only £5 and it is actually amazing. If you can find some in the local Aldi definitely try it.

E V E N I N G

Moving onto my evening routine and this changes slightly depending on whether I have worn makeup during the day but it mainly starts with the Simple Water Boost Micellar Cleansing Water which I have to say is my favourite micellar water out of all the brands. I have tried many over the years including Garnier, Nivea and Bioderma and Simple has always been my favourite. The main reason is I feel like I am never left with a film on my skin after using it.

Then once my skin is clean of any obvious dirty I go in with a toner and cleansing pads both from Superdrug's Naturally Radiant Glycolic range. Some times I might only use one product but most of the time I use both the Glycolic Tonic and the Glycolic Acid Daily Cleansing Pads. These both get the extra bit of dirty which is hiding on the skin and when I am having a break out, these tone down the angry spots (these are getting a lot of use right now).

Lastly onto my moisturising products to give my skin some TLC during the night. First up I have the Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate which I don't use every night other wise I would be sharing my house with a number of spots on the regular, but I do use it about once a week when I feel like my skin needs a pick me up during the night. Obviously from the name, the product is very concentrated so you only need a little bit of product to do the job and this makes a great base for your moisturiser to do its magic.

The moisturiser I am currently using during the evenings is the Sukin Facial Moisturiser. Now I know that isn't a night moisturiser but I find I get on much better with this product then my Sukin night moisturiser at the moment, and when your skin tells you something you listen!

A bit of a long post today but i hope it encourages you to dig around your skincare draw and pull out some unloved products while you have a bit more time on your hands. I have a post coming up showing you the new products which have come into my collection thanks to my birthday at the beginning of this month so make sure you keep a eye out for it.

Like everyone right now I have been spending more and more time on YouTube and Netflix trying to keep myself entertained so over the last three weeks I have found some real gems hiding on the apps. After I boycotted Netflix for a few days when I realised that they had removed Royle Family (still not over that!), I started looking through the new shows added to the website and started to like them again when I noticed a few of my favourites.

Now I am ending my 3rd week of working from home I thought I collate the items I have found worked great at being comfy to work in but also made me feel smart and most importantly - productive. I know some people only want to live in comfy clothing right now and if you can work in that then great, but I tried the whole loungewear look for two weeks and didn't like it all.

My working from home style is comfy but looks smart and makes me feel productive whatever I am doing.
I swear by these trousers for most of the spring and summer as they are so comfy and let air in in all the right places but they also look smart. Pair these with a silk shirt and you will feel so productive and professional but, also feel comfy no matter whether you are working on the sofa or the desk. If you want to be even more comfy pair these with a graphic tee and layer a cosy jumper and you are sorted. The best thing about culottes is that they don't crease at all so you can slob in them all day and still look put together!
Shirts
I am a big fan of any type of shirt and have a large collection in my wardrobe for everyday use so I find shirts really comfortable to wear. I always think it doesn't matter what bottoms you are wearing if you have a nice shirt on. No one is going to see your bottoms on video call anyway!

Plain Denim Shorts
This is obviously weather appropriate but a good pair of denim shorts with a nice top can do you the world of good when you need a little pick me up. This is my working in the garden uniform where I want to feel comfy and breezy in the nice weather but I need to look smart for a video call. You can never go wrong with black or blue denim shorts and a nice white shirt.

Cream Oversized Cardi
Because I know the weather can't make up its mind and we might need something to get a little cosy. I find my cream cardi from Newlook is great to throw over everything in my wardrobe and the cream is great with my spring colour palette.

Patterned Trousers
I love a good pair of patterned trousers and you can get some really comfy styles which feel like leggings but look much smarted. I have a pair of black and white trousers from Newlook which i have already been living in as they are so comfy. I like to pair them with a graphic tee shirt and whole outfit looks funky and smart.

Smock Dresses
Who doesn't love a smock dress? I have quite a few in my wardrobe and this means I can style them for winter with black tights and jumpers and pair them with sandals for the spring/summer time. A patterned smock dress is great to look smart in but also great for air ventilation while working. Tip - Try and wear dresses which don't crease easily!

Smart Shorts
I have only recently invested in some smart style shorts which I like to pair with a plain cami top or a shirt in the warmer weather. I have a green and oatmeal colour shorts which are super comfy to wear and make me feel a little bit more presentable.

I have been taking photos of my working from home outfits this week so keep an eye out for the blog post which will be coming soon, where I will be wearing basically everything in this edit.

What a very strange week. It is safe to say that we all have a new norm now whether we like it or not. I have never been in a position to work from home before so this past week and a bit has been a shock to the system. I am nearly two weeks in and I still don't have a routine that I stick to. I have read a lot of posts about how to stay motivated at home and what works for other people, so its time for me to give my 5 pence.

First of all - working space.
I have tried everywhere from working from my bed to working at my dining room table and I honestly don't particularly like either. I change up where I am working everyday to keep it feeling a bit fresh and so I don't spend too much time in one room. I have changed my spare room into a office with a table and printer and I actually hated it so that went out of the window. I have found so far that I am no more productive at any one space so for now I am going to carry on moving round the house till I find a space that works.

Second - working at home uniform.
I have spent the last 2 weeks living in jogging bottoms and comfort clothing and I have felt rubbish every day. One day I got full dressed, curled my hair and did my makeup and I felt great! I did so much and felt amazing then taking my makeup off and getting into my pjs. So from then on I have continued getting ready as if I am going into the office. It might be a waste of makeup but I like destining my work and home clothing.

Third - productivity.
I know for some people it is a sin to watch tv while working from home but personally, I need some background noise. I like to put on something I have watched before like Friends or Gavin and Stacey just so I feel like I am working in a office with other people. I can only work in silence for so long before I start to go crazy and distracted.

Lastly - keeping a work/ life balance.
It is incredibly difficult right now to keep a good work life balance and trying to keep sane in the same four walls. I find that getting up at the same time I would for work and keeping the same morning and evening routine has helped me keep my work life and my home life slightly separate. I don't work straight from 9-5 while I am at home mainly because I cant keep my concentration for long at my own office let alone when I am working at home. I try to break up the day but putting a load of washing on and making a nice lunch so that the day doesn't feel long and I also feel extra productive by doing things around the house.

Let me know how you are finding working from home and remember the most important rule - do whatever works for you! Don't worry what other people are wearing, watching or writing, you do as much as you can. You got this!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1033931283900897496.post-48532446100778701742020-04-01T15:17:00.000+01:002020-04-01T15:17:29.691+01:00Period Pants | Do They Work?

I know what you are thinking, eww. I thought that too when I was researching them. I liked the idea of the period pants but I wasn't too keen on the concept and the price tag. Although I wanted to try them out, I was in no real rush.

Then one day i found on social media a advert for some Period Knickers from Sainsbury for just £10. Since some period knickers on the market are around the £30 mark, this made me want to give these pants ago. If they did turn out to work, they would save me so much money and hassle in the long run.

I picked up two different designs (and quite a few were already sold out), the Black Love Luna Period Midi Knickers and the Black Love Luna Period Bikini Knickers. Both I purchased in a size 8-10 which is normal for me so I would suggest staying true to size, the last thing you want is a baggy knicker full of blood. They both feel like I am wearing bikini bottoms instead of knickers which was strange at first but I go used to them. They are extremely comfortable to wear all day and luckily don't cut in to my skin at all. They are also made from stretchy material as well so they double as hold-in pants while you are bloated which is amazing.

Both knickers claim to hold up to 15ml of blood which equates to 2-3 tampons worth. I can confirm that after a full day of wearing them, I did not have any leaking problems or felt like the pants where too full to continue. I tend to have light periods in general (which I am grateful for) so these pants work great for me. I tend to only bleed for 3 out of the 7 days I am on my break from the pill so between the two pants, I was covered.

I thought I might have some leakage during the night as I am a bit of a stirrer while I sleep but I had no problem at all with these knickers. I rotated the two pairs during my 3 day bleed and so would change them every morning and evening. After I had change, I would soak the pants in warm water and washing liquid to release most of the blood before I washed and dried them ready for the next day. Although this felt a bit like a faff at first, I fell into the routine and I do think one more pair of pants would help my routine out. One problem I thought I might incur while trying them is that they may smell during the day or I might be able to feel the blood throughout the day but surprising, I hardly felt anything as the knickers dried very quickly and I never smelt blood once while wearing them.

A little round of the main things I found with the knickers:

PROS
Fast drying
Reusable
Comfortable
Looks great underneath clothing
No odour
<span style="background-color: white; display: inline; float: none; font-family: "times new roman"; font-style: normal; font-variant: normal; font-weight: 400; letter-spacing: normal; text-align: left; text-decoration: none; text-indent: 0px; text-transform: none; white-space: normal; word-spacing: 0px;">Saves money in the long run on products
Works as shape wear underneath clothing
No leaking
As you can see the pros outweigh the cons for me but it is all done to personal preference. Some people don't mind using a tampon or pad whereas I can't use tampons and pads tend to irritate me after a while. So these knickers make my life so much easier. I defiantly will be purchasing at least one more pair to make my wash rotation a bit simpler and if you have any questions about the knickers, leave them below and I will answer them for you. Anything that makes that time of the month a little easier to great for everyone!
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1033931283900897496.post-69804834510981876752020-03-26T15:26:00.001+00:002020-03-26T15:26:18.709+00:0025 things you can do at home to keep busy

I think one thing we are all a little scared of at this current point in time is keeping busy. If you are used to working a 9-5 job and then enjoying yourself at the weekend, sitting at home can be a drastic change.

I thought I would make a list of everything you can do at home to keep yourself busy

Complete a puzzle

Watch Netflix

Go on a massive cleaning spree

Get your green fingers gardening

Go round each room and organise the clutter

Organise your kitchen cupboards

Go through your wardrobe and make new outfits

organise your wardrobe

Declutter your wardrobe

Read a book - or several

Write a blog post

Read blog posts

Watch YouTube

Make a YouTube

Finally do that DIY

Clear out your garage

Do some painting

Reorganise your book shelfs

Meal prep for dinner

Batch cook

Try out new hair styles

Do a daily workout video on youtube

Plan a video call with your family and friends

Drink all the wine in the house...

Copy makeup looks from Youtube

Obviously you can only do some of these things if you have a puzzle or paint already in the house.

Please leave some more ideas down in the comments for others to read.

When I can finally get my hands on some mince meat and chicken, I am going to batch cook till my heart is content!

What a year it has been so far. So many of us claimed 2020 was going to be our year and to be honest - I wish I could start the year again.

With everything that is going on I wanted to get my feelings out and off load to keep my sanity.

So how am I feeling? Pretty rubbish, I'm not going to lie. I have been positive up to this point to keep life normal but this week has really hit me hard. It is just the uncertainty of what will happen. I don't mind being at home, I have 6 more Poldark books to read so that will keep me going for a while. What I worry about is all the endless talk on social media 'my friend lives here and ...' 'Apparently there is a case in the town'.

I have chosen to mute everything to do with what is going on from my timeline but it still pecks through, making me all together avoid twitter. I am focusing my energy on Instagram where I find people are trying to entertain and distract their followers, rather that scare them.

There are a few things I am doing to keep myself sane and I thought I was just pop them here, in case any of them help you.

Mute all social media which encourages gossip and false information.

Only look for information from the NHS website and the PMs daily updates

Keep my normal routine as much as I can

Plan my meals so that I don't waste food and I might be able to discover new receipts

Make a list of things I want to get done in case of lockdown - gardening, blog post ideas, DIY, books to read, new meals

Make plans for the future - we might not know when this is all going to end but we can make plans, with no future date, to have something to look forward to

Use the whole of your space - keep your living room for relaxing, bedroom for sleeping and any other room for anything else so you are not stuck in one room for 12 weeks

Keep in touch - whether that's a text, call or a video chat

Make use of the garden - hopefully spring has finally arrived so if you have a garden, this is the perfect opportunity to use the space and enjoy it.

Recreate outfits from Pinterest - Pinterest is full of information, use it!

I might be posting a lot of here for the foreseeable future so that I can keep myself busy.

Please all remember to stay safe and most importantly, we are all in this together (I cant say that now without thinking about the cast dancing...)

I haven't posted a skincare post since the beginning of December so I think it is about time I updated you on some of the new / repurchased items I have added recently. I ended up getting a few bits over Christmas from my family and decided to repurchase a few bits over January which I was in need of. I have reduced my skincare collection a lot over the years so I now don't feel the need to purchase items unless I really need them.

First up is a trio set from Sukin which I asked my Mum for Christmas as I was in need of some simple products which would work on my skin without adding any nasties to my skincare routine. I have loved all three of these products before and over Christmas they came as a set of three, which sadly isn't sold anymore, and luckily the three products in the set are my three favourite. Included in the set are three products from their signature range Sukin Facial Moisturiser £7.95, Sukin Foaming Facial Cleanser £7.95 and Sukin Hydrating Mist Toner £7.95. I have mentioned this brand a few times on my blog and when there is a 3for2 deal on at Boots you can get the three bottle set for under £16.

Next up I have a two cleansing products which have both been repurchased in the last two months and are firm favourites in my collection. Firstly is the Pixi Glow Tonic £18 which I will admit, took me a long while to catch on. I may be late to the party but I am a big fan now. I find my skin looks to glowy and clear and after I have used them in the morning and my makeup applies easier afterwards. Then in the evenings I like to use the Superdrug Naturally Radiant Glycolic Pads currently priced at £2.98 on offer! which I like to use as a second cleanse to remove my makeup. When I feel like I have a build up underneath my skin, I like to work these pads over the area and do feel like they reduce spots and bumps.

A new mask that I have been trying lately is the Bodyshop Tea Tree Clearing Face Mask £11 which my sister bought me for Christmas. I tend to stick to the same face masks out of ease and comfort but it has been nice trying this mask out. I find it really soothing and relaxing so it perfect for a relaxing evening in the bath. I used to use quite a few tea tree products when I was younger so the smell is very nostalgic.

My last two new products are some moisturisers which are both up their in my top 10. First is the Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream £23 which the name suggests is refreshing and awakening first thing in the morning. I use this nearly every morning and evening and since I am closer to the 30 year mark, this is something I am focusing more on.

My last new product is a surprise find while I was food shopping in Aldi. The Lacura Facial Cream is exactly how I would expect the Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream to feel like on the skin but it is a fraction of the price. Sadly this product is no longer available which makes me so sad as it was less than £5 and is up their with my Clinique and Origins moisturiser favourites. If you do find this product in your local Aldi I would 100% recommend you try this product out.
I always thought I was a winter girl at heart but really, I think I just love Christmas. Then when Christmas is over, I am so over the weather. We have a long way to go before we can get your legs and arms out (as we speak I have the worst cold) so I have been pinning lots of wintery outfits to give me some inspiration. Here are a few outfit ideas I am loving from Pinterest.

Patterned trousers and a big jumper
I love this look especially with my favourite colour.... Black! It is so easy to wear and it is suitable for work and play (and by play I mean not leaving the house because it is so cold). I do have some black and white check trousers already which I have got a lot of wear out of this season already.
Patterned skirt and roll neck
Do you think I like patterned bottoms during winter? When it is really cold outside but I am bored of wearing a jumper and jeans, my patterned skirt and tights come out and I feel a little bit more fashionable. There are so many ideas on Pinterest, I have saved so many on the last few months!
Who still wears skinny jeans I hear you say? I still love them especially in a black because you can wear them with anything. All of my current jumpers are either cropped or hip length so I haven't been able to recreate this look but I love it as it is so easy to style. I do think a long black jumper will get a lot of wear out of my wardrobe for winter, but getting the right length is hard when you are short.

As many of you will know by now I have been attempting to create my perfect capsule wardrobe since last year and I am slowly getting there. My wardrobe has reduced in size dramatically and my way of thinking when it comes to shopping has completely shifted 180.

Instead of going out and buying loads of items which I don't need just because they are slightly reduced, I now look at what I already have in my wardrobe, make outfits out these items and then make a list of items which I think are missing from my wardrobe. If you haven't tried it I would highly recommend it. If you have and it didn't float your boat, fair play at least you gave it a go! For those of you who haven't, here are a few reasons why I think people should shop their wardrobe.

1. To love your clothing more
When I used to have a very large wardrobe, most of the clothing didn't get worn. I already back then would stick to my favourite items and ignore the items I know I couldn't make work or didn't have anything to go with. That clothing isn't getting any love. When you have a wardrobe filled with clothing that you love, it makes you excited to pick an outfit and excited to wear that item again. If you have a wardrobe full of clothing that you never wear, what was the point in buying it?

2. To encourage you to think of new outfit ideas
Having a reduced wardrobe does mean you have to play around to create different outfits on a day to day basis, which is why it is great to have a colour theme to your wardrobe so that you know, every item will go with every other item. You might get bored wearing a jumper and jeans ever day so play around with layers and textures. I spend a few hours a day on Pinterest finding new outfits and saving my favourites. If you need any ideas have a look!

3. To reduce your waste
This is a big issue that came to a head over the last few years and fast fashion is a big problem. I do still shop on some stores classed as 'fast fashion' but I am more conscious now to the problem which also helped me reduce my buying. I now only buy items with I will literally wear to death. No wear once and forget out it moto that some people have. Times have changed and with my reduced wardrobe I find that I don't need to throw out any clothing as it is all pieces I will like for a long time and which will last me till they have lots of holes in. I also take my clothing to charities and collections so if you are thinking about reducing your wardrobe and trying a capsule wardrobe remember from school, reduce reuse and recycle!

4. To minimise the space your wardrobe takes up and reduce the time it takes to get ready!
This is a big one for me because I hate taking ages to get ready so having a smaller selection of clothes to choose from makes finding outfits easier and faster. The idea is to pick a top and bottom out of your wardrobe and they should match if you have your colour theme down to a tee. Also have a smaller wardrobe will mean your will have more room in your wardrobe and more room for activities!!

5. To save money
You will see in a later post that saving money is on the top of my to do list this year so listen up good. Before I started my capsule wardrobe I was going out shopping most weekends and at least picking up one new thing. Since starting my capsule wardrobe I have spent about 20% of the amount I used to spend on clothes. You are allow to buy clothing when you have a capsule wardrobe, you just remove an item so that your wardrobe doesn't get cluttered and you don't allow yourself to impulse buy. I have saved so much money on clothing and I am so proud of myself. You do end up spending more money on one single item of clothing in the long run because you are investing in that piece of clothing, but you don't have to run before you can walk. You can start a capsule wardrobe with the clothing in your wardrobe right now.

What was your reason for starting your capsule wardrobe?

I love dressing up for a date night with Cal and although he wouldn't care if I went out in my pjs (don't worry I wouldn't!), I still love to plan my outfits and feel dressed up for the occasion. So I thought I would show you some of the outfits I have made from the items I already have in my wardrobe. Some of the outfits will be a bit fancy in case you are going for a fancy meal for a special occasion but some of the outfits are also cosy and casual.

My first few outfits are a little bit fancy for when you are going out to a nice restaurant. First up is a black velvet playsuit (similar) which I picked up from Newlook a few months ago for only £8, what a bargain! I haven't found a time to wear it yet so my mission is to wear it on a date night with Cal this year. It feels like you are wearing a onesie so it is the most comfortable outfit I now own and if you wanted to make it bit more casual, you could throw a big jumper on top to make them look like felt bottoms.

My next outfit is another fancy one which includes items that everyone has in their wardrobe! If you don't already own a leather skirt (similar), you are missing out! Although I don't wear it for a lot of the year I do find certain times of the year when I become obsessed with it again and it is always handy to have for a night out. For a date night I would pair this with one of my H&M shirts and some little black boots and my outfit is sorted. If you wanted to tone down the outfit as well I normally just swop the shirt for a ribbed roll neck and make the skirt the focus of the outfit.

An outfit which no one will be surprised about involves my favourite little leggings. These leather look leggings from Femme Luxe are so easy to wear and look great with practically everything. For date night I would wear these with my cream H&M shirt and my Newlook Patterned boots to make it seem like my legs were never ending (which they definitely are). Again if you wanted to dress the outfit down because you are only going out to a pub, you could swop the shirt for a jumper or whack the jumper on top so that you have the collar poking out.

Moving on to some outfits which aren't too fancy but you wouldn't call them casual as well, the first two options are my black and white dresses from Shein. Since I purchased these in the last few months I have worn both non stop. I have worn then to new years eve and a Christmas party as well as to work with some flats. They are so versatile and instead of wearing them with black tights, I have started wearing them with skin colour tights and they completely change the outfit. For new years eve I wore one of the dresses with skin coloured tights, some chunky black boots and a red bag and felt great.

Next up I have another outfit which involves my H&M shirts but they literally can be worn with anything to anywhere. I like to pair the shirts with my Billabong Mini Skirt and wear a black and gold black over the top, it is a very smartish preppy look which I actually love to wear. I can change up the shirt to make 4 different outfits and although the skirt is tight and short, the bagginess of the shirt makes me comfortable and covered up. TIP I wouldn't wear this skirt with skin coloured tights unless you want everyone to see what you have eaten for the last week!

Lastly moving on to my more casual outfits for a lovely pub dinner date, starting with a favourite of mine from the summer - the midi skirt (similar). I have been wearing these with black or white roll necks in the winter and as long as I have some tights on underneath, it is the perfect outfit. I do find because the skirt doesn't have a slit anywhere on it, black tights don't look right with the shirt so I stick to skin coloured tights.

My last outfit of the post is probably my favourite because it is comfy, cosy and looks like I have made a lot of effort. It features the shirts again... I'm sorry I cant help it! Once you see it hopefully you will let me off for using them again. My last outfit is my Primark black mom jeans (similar) with the cream shirt tucked in, adding the black and gold belt and my Primark loafers to make the look really preppy and put together. You really can't go wrong with mom jeans and the black ones are so flattering.

I hope you liked the outfits and have found some inspiration for your own wardrobe. Let me know which outfits you loved!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1033931283900897496.post-50858952792346140392020-01-05T08:43:00.000+00:002020-01-05T08:43:10.912+00:00Where I Spend & Where I SaveIt can be quite daunting thinking about all the items you want to invest money in for the long run and then totalling up how much it would cost to invest in them items... I find that investment pieces can be something that you gradually add to your collection when and wear you can, and there is nothing wrong with buying non-investment pieces in the mean time.

Following on from that thought, I wanted to do a round up of items, clothing and non clothing, which I like to spend money on and save money on. I don't have loads of money to spend on myself, I have a mortgage and would like to have children in the near future so spending vast amounts of money on myself just isn't a priority. I hope this helps people who are trying to figure out what they want to spend their hard money on but don't know where to start.

Where I like to spend

Skincare

Moisturiser - Apart from the Sukin Facial Moisturiser which I am a big fan of, I mainly only use Clinique or Origins moisturiser and the main reason for this is simply - my skin like them much better. I have tried a few drugstore moisturisers but 9/10 times my skin does not agree with them so naturally, I am going to listen to my skin.

Eye Cream - Since I started wearing eye cream a few years back (not as soon as I should have mind you) I have always stuck to the Clinique All About The Eyes Cream and I have never found anything to rival it. I tried to find a pot of eye cream from Boots when I ran out and all I could find was tube eye creams. What is up with that?

Outerwear

Outerwear is generally a higher price point because of what it is made of and the amount of material used but I do like to spend a little extra on my outerwear to make sure it lasts me for many many years. You end up wearing your outerwear 10x more than any other item in your wardrobe and it completely covers your outfit so it needs to be something that works with everything and stands the time. I also like to spend a little more on a outerwear piece because i have a select collection of coats and jacket rather than having a large collection to choose from.

Footwear

Footwear is around the same thinking as my outerwear collection, i have a few key pieces of footwear that I rotate depending on the season so i like to invest in shoes that will last me more than one season. I still have some shoes from Primark and Newlook which have lasted me a long while but I do like to go into TKMax and see what more brands I can get my hands on.

Jewellery - excluding earrings

I used to love the 'costume' jewellery that I used to buy in Clair's Accessories when I was younger but now I have ground up I much prefer the more simple diligent pieces. I find to buy a piece of jewellery that will last years without the chain breaking, you do need to invest a little into the piece.

Handbags

Again this is very similar to my thinking process about footwear and outerwear, a good hand bag can last you so many years and work for any occasion. I am someone who bangs and bashes their handbag around all days so i need one which is going to last more than a few months before breaking.

Kitchen Equipment

Strange one maybe to put in but a very important one for people deciding to move out! When im talking about kitchen equipment I'm talking washing machine, slow cooker, dish washer - all of the equipment which can cost a lot to replace at the wrong time. When i need to buy something for the kitchen i do like to go by certain brands which i know last a long time and have great customer service. My favourites if you wanted to know are Russel Hobbs and Samsung.

Where I like to save

Home Decor

As much as i love looking in the white company... it just isn't going to happen. The price some brands charge for home decor is crazy considering Home Bargains and Primark do some amazing items which are similar and more than half the price! I feel like only a few years ago it wasn't seen as cool to buy home bits from shops like Home Bargains and then in the space of a year or two, everyone is raving about their products and I can see why.

Makeup

If you have been around for a long time than you will know that i have always been a drugstore makeup girl right from the beginning and nothing has really changed. Although i like to spend a bit more on my skincare, I find most makeup works on a good base and I do have my favourites. Rimmel, Revolution and Kiko are to name a few which i have stuck with for many years. I have a few higher end products in my collection but the majority of it is from Boots.

Earings

I couldn't count for you the number of earrings I have upstairs, the number would carry on for a long while and along the years I have picked up big packs of multiple design earrings from Newlook and Primark and I have never had a problem with them. If you have sensitive ears than maybe ignore this point but i would rather spend £10 on a pack of 50 earrings them £50 on one pair.

Jersey Basics

This might make people gasp in horror but I buy all my basics from Newlook and H&M because you can't go wrong with them. Most of my wardrobe is made up of basics from H&M and Newlook and i have had some for years.

Jeans

I know a lot of people like to invest in their jeans and have the one perfect pair but I still have some jeans that I bought from Newlook about 7 years ago and they still look perfect. I find that as long as you wash them right, you shouldn't really have a problem. Always remember to go for a smaller size so when they naturally give, they aren't too big!

Nails

If you have never tried the fake nails from Primark what have you been doing all your life? A full set of acrylics can set you back £30 ish and to have them removed cost an extra £10 for the removal? Primark sell amazing stick on nails for just £1. When i tell people this they do look at me like OMG you must be that stingy but once i show them my hands with the fake nails on, they can't believe how good they look. Honestly if you have never tried them give them a go, it will only cost you a £1! The glue you get with them is also amazing!

Cleaning Supplies

Another random one but the amount some people spend on cleaning supplies is ridiculous. I buy all my cleaning supplies from Aldi or Home Bargains if certain things are on offer. I find with cleaning products... it all does the same thing!

Food Shop

Ever since I moved into my own home I have shopped with Aldi and I love the food they make. I have converted so many people to Aldi and it is amazing the amount of money you can save on a big shop. Yes it has some set backs like the packing is really annoying but I tend to open all my bags in the trolley and throw them into the bags - rebel I know! Again i feel like it is now cool to shop at Aldi thanks to people on YouTube recording their 'weekly Aldi food shop'.

Who loves autumn clothing? Yes me too!

I have a few items which I have been wearing non stop this autumn and I thought I would share with you these items in case you are missing them in your wardrobe. I will try and list all the items for you but for any which are too old to link, I will similar items for you!

Petite Longline Camel Coat
I recently picked up this coat in October/November when Newlook were having a sale on their petite range and I picked up the Camel and Black version to add to my jacket collection for autumn winter and I have worn both non stop since they arrived. The camel version has to be my favourite of the two because the colour is super flattering and my go to outfit at the minute is some black trousers with a black roll neck and the camel coat on top. Simple but classic!

Black High Waisted Leather Look Leggings
I can't tell you how many times I have worn this leggings in the last few months, I have even started wearing them to work because they are so comfy and easy to style with anything. I love to pair them with a long black jumper and the camel Newlook coat on top and I look really styled but with minimal effort required. It is now a running joke with my family whenever I wear them now one of them will say 'she's in them leggings again...'

Every H&M shirt I own
Sorry I could not pick just one of the H&M shirts for this list because I love all them equally. They look amazing and hang really well of your body and even after a number of wears and washes, they still look brand new. At the minute while the weather has dropped I am putting a big baggy jumper over these shirts so that the collar is poking out and I love the preppy look of it.

Black Studded Velvet Leggings (similar)
I picked up these velvet studded leggings last year in M&S and I absolutely love them! In all honesty their quality is shocking and half of the studs have fallen off but I actually like the look of the random stud now. Most of the studs have fallen off over my bottom and on the inside of my legs so it actually looks like this is meant to be the design. Aside from the flaw in design, I love how comfy the leggings are and they can make a plain outfit so much more interesting than if I was wearing just some black skinny jeans. They are also really insulated for the colder months which is a bonus.

Grey Fine Jumper
I have an array of jumpers in my wardrobe and everyone gets a lot of love but I have to say one H&m grey jumper does get a little bit more daylight then the rest. I picked this up in summer actually when H&M were clearing their autumn stock from the previous year. I had the best day because I walked into the store and the place was covered with knitwear on every rail, all new stock for the current season, and then I walked to the back of the store and there was 5 rails of sale jumpers! I think I picked 3 or 4 jumpers up for £25 and then I got a discount for being a member so it was the best day! Anyway back to the post, If I am ever in doubt of what to wear one day, I slip this jumper on with any bottom and I am good to go. I have never been much of fan of the colour grey but actually it is the most popular colour in my knitwear collection so it must actually be a favourite!Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1033931283900897496.post-68230852819901302352019-12-28T08:43:00.000+00:002020-01-12T17:38:28.392+00:00My Capsule Wardwrobe Update

During 2019 I have made a conscious effort to rework my wardrobe and create a capsule wardrobe which would work for me for any occasion. I have watched plenty of videos of the essential items you would need and I would say my wardrobe is definitely near completion, but over the last month or so I have increased the size of my wardrobe.

There are so many how to guides to building a capsule wardrobe and the thing I love about capsule wardrobes is that you don't need to follow any. You can have as little and as big a capsule wardrobe as you like. I think as long as the items see you through multiply seasons and can work with anything in your collection then you can join the fam!

When I first tried a capsule wardrobe in probably march time, I really took my wardrobe back to basic. I did a mammoth clear out and condensed my items to about 50. Half of the items I gave away to friends and family who loved it because most of the items were in perfect condition, and then I packed the rest of my wardrobe away because it wasn't seasonally appropriate. So I was left using 1/4 of the wardrobes in our bedroom (1 section is Cals, 1 is for house items and the last 1 I used for washing baskets).

I loved using my more condensed streamline wardrobe and found it really easy to work with for the first few months, I think with it being summer it was easy to rework outfits for different occasions. Then the weather changed and I found it a bit harder to maintain the wardrobe. I pulled out all of the jumpers from storage and rediscovered some of my favourites which has meant I haven't purchased any jumpers this autumn winter which is great, but I felt like all I was wearing was a jumper and leather leggings.

I knew I had some room for some cute dresses that I could wear with tights and boots during the winter months so I have recently purchased a few different styles which I have wrote about here. All items which i can work with for spring summer with some sandals. Apart from two winter boyfriends coats that I purchased from Newlook, these dresses are my only other purchases since April time which I am proud of. The concept of a capsule wardrobe has really stuck with me because only last year, I was routinely buying new clothing for no real reason. Now I look at my wardrobe and see what I am lacking and what would work with what I already have.

Other than the new dresses I have recently purchased, to give me more options in my wardrobe during the colder months I re-evaluated my summer wardrobe in storage. I have loved splitting my wardrobe into seasons because it gives me more room in my wardrobe and most importantly, I tend to forget what items I have in storage so when I take them back out, I feel like I have a new item again. Saying all this, I needed some items to change up my wardrobe so I wasn't wearing the same outfit style every day. I have posted about some of the summer items I brought back out here. Now that I have purchased a few dresses I have no need for my summer items of clothing, so they have now gone back into storage ready to rediscover for summer.

So after this year how do I feel about a capsule wardrobe? I still absolutely love it and would recommend it to anyone. It helps you love your clothing on a daily basis and takes the stress out of trying to make a outfit. I love watching peoples videos of their capsule wardrobes and seeing how everyone's is different.

I currently have about 70 pieces in my wardrobe (excluding shoes and accessories) and to some people, they would say that that isn't a capsule wardrobe. To them people I say, the great thing about capsule wardrobes is that you can tailor it to however works for you and if you saw the number of clothing items I used to own, you would be proud!

P.S. I use Pinterest every day to help me create different outfits with the items I already own, take a look at my boards to see if they give you inspirations! Chelsea Loves on PinterestUnknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1033931283900897496.post-49166601743065802772019-12-23T08:00:00.000+00:002019-12-23T08:08:54.203+00:00How to stay motived in the winter

Does anyone else find it extremely difficult to get themselves into gear during the winter? I am quite a lazy person at the best of times so once the mornings get darker and the nights get colder, you can imagine how much of a sloth I become.

Here are a few steps I find help me stay motivated during the winter months!

# make a routine

I know not everyone likes having a routine to stick to but I find if I don't have one, I just sit in my pjs any time I'm not at work. Whether its an evening routine to stop me getting into bed too early or a weekend routine that involves going out for a walk and visiting a new village, it just means I feel like I have done something with my time rather than waste it.

# batch cook and plan your meals

I love planning my meals for the week, for one because it means I can buy in the ingredients I need beforehand and two, because it means I have a delicious dinner to look forward to. It can be so easy to finish work, finally get home when it is pitch black outside and not know what to cook. Let alone the effort it takes to make a cooked meal!

I like to batch cook something like a lasagne or Sheppard's pie on a Sunday so that I have a warm lunch all week or a easy homecooked dinner to fall back on. I also find the easiest thing to do in the winter is to stick a load of ingredients into the slow cooker first thing in the morning when you have the most energy so by the time you finish work, there is no cooking to do.

# lay out your clothes ahead of time to remind yourself not to get into your pjs

When I do decide to have a workout at the gym I like to lay my gym clothes on my bed in the morning so by the time I get home, I have the urge to actually put them on and go. If I am planning to go out for the evening with friends, I also like to pick my outfit ahead of time because when I finish work in the evening, you can be sure I'll want to go out in some leggings and a baggy jumper.

# make plans!

I know it can be so easy to spend most evenings and weekends relaxing at home in the comfort of your fluffy pjs but I try and make plans on a weekly basis during the winter. I am an introvert person at the best of times so I know what it is like when your don't want to leave the house at all but, I do make myself busy. I like to plan meals with my friends during the week or Christmas events with my family at the weekend. I know during the Christmas periods most peoples diaries are jam packed anyway, I know mine is already! Got to love the season!

Let me know how you stay motived during the winter months!
Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1033931283900897496.post-41316277946717087552019-12-14T20:04:00.000+00:002019-12-14T20:04:12.651+00:00Styling Summer Dresses For Autumn | What I've Been Wearing Lately

I have been making a conscious effort to think of new and different outfits for this season as last year, I spent most of the winter in a big fluffy jumper and jeans. A few weeks ago I dug back out my spring summer items and picked out some dresses which I could with for the colder months.

<strike></strike>

<strike></strike>
First up is a new dress which I mentioned already in my last post and I haven't been disappointed. I wore this dress from Shein to a Christmas house party and I absolutely loved how it looked with knee high boots and black tights. I always think you can't go wrong with a black and white spotted dress in any season.

And since I love black and white spotted dresses so much, I picked up another one from the same website and have been wearing it to work with my cropped H&M jumper on top for extra warmth. I've picked them both up in a size medium so that it would be too tight on my back and I love the way they hang lose but look fitted with a simple black belt on top. I do need to stock up on baggy ditsy dresses so I may need to make another order!

Next up I have a green smock dress I purchased a few years ago from H&M which again is big and baggy but I normally pull it in with a belt. To make the dress more weather appropriate I just wore a black roll neck underneath with some black tights and a black belt to pull the outfit together. During winter roll necks are your best friends and I have been wearing mine none stop. They do sell this dress in a number of different colours and I stopped myself picking up the black version as I didn't think I got enough wear out of my green dress but now, I may need to keep a eye out on the website.

My last actual dress is a purple velvet number I picked up from Primark a few years ago and this is a dress which looks super cute during the summer with some little black heels but I think it looks even cuter with a black long sleeve and tights underneath. Sometimes I think I look a little bit young in the dress but then I try it on and fall back in love.

Lastly I have a jumpsuit (similar) which I thought I would add into this post because it is such a staple summer piece because of the design and I thought I wasn't going to get any wear till next spring. The materials of the jumpsuit isn't the thickest so I can only wear it for a few weeks before I need to layer some tights underneath. I have teamed it with my white roll neck to bring out the light colours but I can also wear it with a black roll neck which works better with the tights and black boots.

Do you have any spring/summer items you've reworked for the colder months?

I'm sure I am not the only person who's favourite time of year is right now but also dreads the effect it will have on their skin. I have predominantly dry skin which becomes more dry during the colder months. Over the years I have learnt tips and tricks to keep my skin hydrated and have a list of products I can go between to fix any problems. Here are the products that I am currently using.

Starting off with the most important product - lip balm! Everyone in my RL knows that I have problematic dry lips and sees the effects of them every week so I never skip this step in my morning or evening skincare routine. I have exclusively used Glossier Balm Dot Com since I first tried them some years ago. I don't know any other lip balm that rivals them. This is a crucial step in my routine to make sure my lips are looked after for the day so I always start my day applying lip balm.

Next I have what I call an under base product which comes in so handy during the colder months. I only first tried serums a few years ago and I do think the effects they give your skin are unlike any other type of product. During the day I like to use the Glossier Super Bounce Serum which gives your skin extra moisture and plumps your skin to make it feel younger and smoother. I find this teamed with a moisturiser is the perfect base for my make to last all day and my face to stay hydrated for hours.

Before I go to bed I like to apply Kiehl's Midnight Recovery Concentrate which I am pretty sure is magic in a bottle. I first picked this up in Brighton this year and after a little demo from the sales assistant I was go excited to try it! I have reads reviews where people have explained that the serum has brought them out in spots, I have experienced that myself but I was using it every night for about 2 months. I find this is a perfect product to use as and when your skin needs it. I like to keep this on my bed side table so after I have done my skincare routine and let the other products sink in, I then decided before I fall to sleep whether my skin needs some extra help that night.

Lastly I have two moisturises which are both affordable products from Boots. I have previously been a bit of a skincare snob when it came to moisturisers (bar the Sukin Facial Moisturiser which is actually the bomb and great under make up!) but when I ran out of my favourite Clinique Moisturiser I needed a replacement which was easily assessible and a bit cheaper. I tested the Simple Water Boost Hydrating Gel Cream in store one day and couldn't believe how light and hydrating the product was, and at £6.99 for 50ml (currently £4.66 on offer) I had to try it. You definitely do not need a lot so the tub lasts a long time and paired with my Glossier serum, my skin feels amazing afterwards. Full post of my favourite moisturises here!

My last moisturiser is the Sukin Moisture Restoring Night Cream. I am not a religious night cream wearer, as sometimes with dry to combination skin you can over moisturise, but hen I do I like to use this. Sukin is an Australian made, natural, cruelty free, vegan, carbon neutral brand and if none of that takes your fancy, its products feel so luxurious. At £14.99 for 120ml you really are buying a greta product from a great company at a great price. They have difference ranges which range in price but I have found with all the products I have tried, that they last so long. I first tried this product along with a few others last January and I still have some much product left (see blog post here).

Have you got any products you swear by this time of year?
