How to stay motived in the winter

batch cooking, diary, lifestyle, List, motivation, prep, routine, winter,

Does anyone else find it extremely difficult to get themselves into gear during the winter? I am quite a lazy person at the best of times so once the mornings get darker and the nights get colder, you can imagine how much of a sloth I become.

Here are a few steps I find help me stay motivated during the winter months!

# make a routine

I know not everyone likes having a routine to stick to but I find if I don't have one, I just sit in my pjs any time I'm not at work. Whether its an evening routine to stop me getting into bed too early or a weekend routine that involves going out for a walk and visiting a new village, it just means I feel like I have done something with my time rather than waste it.

# batch cook and plan your meals

I love planning my meals for the week, for one because it means I can buy in the ingredients I need beforehand and two, because it means I have a delicious dinner to look forward to. It can be so easy to finish work, finally get home when it is pitch black outside and not know what to cook. Let alone the effort it takes to make a cooked meal!

I like to batch cook something like a lasagne or Sheppard's pie on a Sunday so that I have a warm lunch all week or a easy homecooked dinner to fall back on. I also find the easiest thing to do in the winter is to stick a load of ingredients into the slow cooker first thing in the morning when you have the most energy so by the time you finish work, there is no cooking to do.

# lay out your clothes ahead of time to remind yourself not to get into your pjs

When I do decide to have a workout at the gym I like to lay my gym clothes on my bed in the morning so by the time I get home, I have the urge to actually put them on and go. If I am planning to go out for the evening with friends, I also like to pick my outfit ahead of time because when I finish work in the evening, you can be sure I'll want to go out in some leggings and a baggy jumper.

# make plans!

I know it can be so easy to spend most evenings and weekends relaxing at home in the comfort of your fluffy pjs but I try and make plans on a weekly basis during the winter. I am an introvert person at the best of times so I know what it is like when your don't want to leave the house at all but, I do make myself busy. I like to plan meals with my friends during the week or Christmas events with my family at the weekend. I know during the Christmas periods most peoples diaries are jam packed anyway, I know mine is already! Got to love the season!

Let me know how you stay motived during the winter months!

Photo Diary | January-Febuary

photo, diary, January, February, five guys, lush, lobdon, TGI fridays, ice bar, homemade burger co,
I thought it was about time I had a little catch up/what I've been doing these past two months post with you all, so here is a little snippet into what I have been doing since the new year began!

  1. These are the flowers Cal got me for Valentines day. We don't celebrate valentines day really all we usually get each other is a card but he got some flowers delivered to me as a little surprise which was really cute.
  2. For valentines day we just drove to Peterborough for the day and had lunch at the Homemade Burger Co which do the best burgers ever!! If you have a Franks near you then I am telling you they are better than Franks. Plus they serve huge chunky chips.
  3. Me and Cal are trying to eat better and starting this year have vowed to cook for ourself's once a week together since we are rubbish at cooking right now. We both live at home so we can get away with not cooking. One night we made an amazing homemade toad in the hole with mash and carrots and believe me, it was incredible.
  4. I can't do one of these posts without including a face mask selfie! Here I am with my all time favourite Lush mask, the mask of Magnaminty.
  5. This month I had a Five Guys for the very first time, yes I know I am seriously late to the party. I had a strawberry milkshake with my meal and it blew my mind. Hands down one of the best milkshakes I have ever had.
  6. In January I took the plunge to get false nails for the very first time. I just got french tips nothing to fancy but I fell in love with them. I thought I wouldn't be able to do anything for myself in them but after the first day, I was moving trends and changing bars at work and they didn't even get scratched! They lasted about four weeks and I probably should have got them off a week earlier as they were so out grown but I didn't want to get rid of them. They are off now sadly and I decided to give my nails a rest before I get some more at the end of march for a wedding I am going to.
  7. Now another food photo... Cal and I have our own favourite curry house which does the best curries so when I had a weekend off we went out for a little date night there. My curry (which is the best) was a Chicken Tikka Masala (left) and Cal's curry was a Dansakk.
  8. Two friends and I spent a random day in London in January and we done loads! We went to the typical sightseeing places, went to oxford street and went shopping, went to the ice bar on regents street and finally had a late meal at TGI Fridays. We ordered cocktails like true Londoners.
  9. Here is my Ice Bar selfie! The capes weren't too amazing but they kept us warm for sure! You pay £15 to enter the bar for 45 minutes and for a free cocktail. We lasted about half an hour before we got too cold and left to feed our bellies. It is beautiful inside though and worth a look if you are in London.

August Photo Diary

Its that time again when I try and sound interesting to you guys when really for most of the month I've either been in the bath or in bed asleep... But anyway here is my August Photo Diary.

My top 5 'Pick Me Up' Films

We've all been there where we've had a rough tough day that gets us down and ruins our mood, I personally like to cuddle under the covers with some pizza and a nice warm Callum. On them days where I can't nick him for cuddles, I like to snuggle in  bed with a good chick flick to help my mood. I have become obsessed with really girlie cheesey films lately (this might be my emotions telling me something) and I thought I would write a post on my favourite 'pick me up' films.

Bridget Jones's Diary

Bridget Jones's Diary

Every women who was born in the 90s loves Bridget Jones and I'm sure most of these women will have made their daughters watch her too, I sure will be! I think her films are brilliant and no matter what is getting me down, these films always find a way to pick me up (probably because my life isn't usually as tragic as hers, but she does get to kiss Collin Firth and Huge Grant so who really is winning at life?). Bridget is a singleton living in London who is trying to find love in this big wide world and in her big huge control pants. She is hilarious and always makes me smile, plus her friends are even more hilarious!

Walking on Sunshine

Walking On Sunshine

This film I will admit I am a little embarrass to claim I love but... I absolutely love love love it! It is ridiculously cheesey and full of 80s songs but I can't help reaching for it when I am in the mood to be cheered up. The lead male Giulio Berruti is a beautiful creature who I have fallen in love with (sorry Cal) and it also has Leona Lewis in who I have loved ever since she was on The X Factor. This plot is the ordinary - boy meets girl on holiday and fall in love, girl leaves boy to fly home and start uni, boy then gets engaged to girls sister 3 years later. How gutted would you be!

About time

About Time

This photo sums up this film perfectly with one word - cute. I love Rachel McAdams in every film she is in and I love her in a whole nother way after this film. The plot is about Tim who is a time traveler and the journey of his 'extra ordinary' life and his meetings with Mary. I love watching this film because firstly like i said, it is super cute and secondly it is relate-able and down to earth,  obviously not the time traveling bit but the love story and journey from young adult to actual grown up.

The holiday

The Holiday

This film is years old now and It still makes me so happy when I watch it. Even though it technically is a Christmas film, it never stays away during the rest of the year! Jude Law is a very handsome English gentleman in the film which I am all over and he has two little girls who are just how I want my kids to be. I love all four of the main actors in this film and found Jack Black such a cutie after watching it. It follows two women who swap houses over Christmas time to get away from their ex partners and surprise surprise they find love in the other women's house, standard love story really but I still love it!

Angus thongs and perfect snogging

Angus Thongs and Perfect Snogging

This is my favourite guilty pleasure film which makes me feel 15 again. Firstly, and most importantly, Aaron Johnson is a beautiful young man and I fancied him for a few years after watching him in this film. Georgia is a girl whos main mission in life is to make Robbie notice her as well as not turn into a lone like the rest of her family, as she calls them. This film is hilarious and has me covering my face half the time at the immaturity.

If you have any good recommendations of super girlie chick flicks, leave them in a comment below!
