What I've been watching lately #2

friends, autumn, call the midwife, drama, e4, Friday night dinner, girls incarcerated, inside n9, interior design master, itv, lifestyle, Netflix, sanditon, sex education, Stacey Dooley, tv, watch list,

Its that time again where I share my favourite tv shows with you and i have some pretty good ones in my list this time.

C A L L  T H E  M I D W I F E

A classic show for me which I have been watching for years. I ended up missing the seventh series when it was aired on tv so I am so excited that that series is now on Netflix! I am currently re-watching the sixth series on the website in preparation since it has been a while, I don't want to forget anything.

I N S I D E  NO 9

This is a recent discovery for me and so far I absolutely love it! I love the concept that every episode is non related but contains the same actors most of the time. It stars Steve Pemberton who I have loved ever since first seeing him in Benidorm. I am now on series 2 and I find them so interesting. My favourite episode so far was S2E2 with Sheridan Smith, the episode gripped me and actually made me cry. My second episode I totally recommend is S1E3 which kept me guessing the whole episode who and what was real.

This is such a well written, well executed and well produced show, it should be on every Friday night till the end of time. I started watching this at the beginning of the year with Callum and we become obsessed really quickly. We watched all the series' in one go and then got our hearts broken when we were told the new series was being recorded. We are still waiting for the new series to air ….

It is no secret that I love a good documentary especially one recorded in a prison. This documentary follows young girls in a American correctional facilities and shows you their struggles inside and outside the facility. The girls started to really annoy Callum but I watched the series till the end to see how the girls finished the series.

What a brilliant show! There are many questions surrounding this tv shows like why the hell do they have English accents but an American styled school? But man am I excited for the next series. Most people have watched this show already but if you haven't, go download Netflix right now!!

I have loved Stacey way before her stint on Strictly, all the way back in her Blood, Sweat and T-shirts days, so I always watch any new show she brings out. In this doc she spends a weekend at the house of different types or families, from a YouTube family to a house which is child led. I relate to Stacey so much for many different reasons so I love the questions she asks in her interviews.

This show is fantastic and I am not creative at all.  watched it while it airs last month and I was pretty sucked in. The show follows interior designers compete to be crowned the master designer and win the prize of designing a hotel in London. My favourite episode so far has been the lodges by the seaside, I really want to go for a weekend break at a lodge in the countryside.

S A N D I T O N

I have always loved a period drama and Sanditon has not disappointed me. Even if I wasn't a fan of period dramas, I would watch it just for Theo James. Imagine him in a gentleman's outfit and a cane... thank me later. I  really enjoyed the show which follows a influential family who lives by the sea and tries to make it seaside resort.

A M E R I C A N  H O R R O R  S T O R I E S

Need I explain this? I have loved this show from the first series and although my interest has dipped along the series, I still watch the new episodes as soon as they are on tv. We are about half way in the new series and so far I seems good. I do miss Evan Peters because he is the king of AHS for me.

This show will not get old to me. I had to give it an honourable mention because although it isn't a new find to me, I watched this show every morning while I am getting ready so you can imagine how many times I have started again. I think I am on my 8th straight run of the show and although Callum hates it every time he hears the theme tune, I can't get enough.

What have you been watching?

Hosting At Home

Hosting At Home

I love inviting people round to my house and hosting people whether its for a hour or for the night. I don't know where I have got this from but since having my own house I have developed a lot of house pride which I think everyone gets once they own their own place. I use any excuse to make people come round my house now so that I can play host so I thought Id take you through what I like to do before someone comes to stay.

One thing I love doing when someone is coming over to stay is make the bed with a fresh bed sheet, obviously tidy the spare room and then close the curtains and turn on the fairy lights. Whether it is sunny or in the middle of winter I think a dark room with fairy lights look so much more appealing. I want to make the bed look really appealing for the person because I know it isn't always nice to spend a night in someone else's bed.

I have got into the habit of leaving fresh towels folded on the end of the bed in the spare room because even though the people who stay over are mainly family members and properly wouldn't care about using the same towels, it is nice to have a fresh one. I also don't want my guests to have to ask for a towel. I am planning on replacing all of our towels soon so that they all match and match the bedding so it looks more pretty all together, sad I know.

On the night stand beside the spare bed I like to leave everything my guest could possibly need, a tooth brush in case they have forgot theirs, a empty glass and a new bottle of water in case they get thirsty in the night and don't want to go roaming round my house, a pair of fluffy socks which are very important during the winter (we are lucky our whole house is covered in carpet so we don't feel the cold too much (but some people don't like showing their feet which is where the socks come in) and a few hair bands because I know what it is like forgetting a hair band and sweating during the night with your hair stuck to you.

Because I love bath and shower products I have a huge collections that I spread across both bathrooms so when people stay over I like to leave out my mini shower gels and scrubs so that if they have a bath or shower they have something to use. Can you call it a shower if you haven't used a shower gel?! I also like to leave cotton pads out for our female friends to remind them to take their makeup off because I know how much they will regret it in the morning if they forget.

Whenever people are staying over at my house I like to stock up the fridge and cupboards, half of the time I cook a proper meal for my family and friends and the other half we get take away depending on whether I have been to work or not but I find the snacks and drinks are the most important. I know what it is like to get the munchies during the night so I like to have little snacks that people can take up with them to bed in case they do get peckish (we've all been there) and a mixture of drinks so people have a choice. I know alcohol isn't everyone's cup of tea and I am not a big drinker myself but whenever we have friends or family round we always get something to put in the fridge whether it is a bottle of wine or a crate of beer. Even if we don't drink it ourselves it is there in case our friends/family want it. We also have mason jars with little chalk boards on so we can write our guests names on the jars which goes down a treat.

Now I'm not saying I am the most amazing host in the whole entire world and that I do all of this every time someone comes over because I'm human and I work a lot but when I do these things, you can tell people really appreciate it and it gives them a rest from doing it themselves at home.

Winter Pamper Routine 2018

Winter Pamper Routine 2018

After a long day at work nothing makes me feel more relaxed or refreshed like a good old pamper evening, usually by myself because I am a introvert and like to spend quality time with myself. I've needed multiply pamper evenings over the last few weeks because it hasn't been the easiest start to the year but they are never disappointing.

Like I have just said I like to be alone when I have a pamper evening/day/weekend depending on how much I need to relax and I live with my partner so I normally see Cal for an hour or so chit chatting while we are making dinner and then I leave him to it to go and begin my routine.

The first thing I do to relax is run a boiling hot bubble bath and shove loads of different products into it. Depending on whether I need to wash my hair while I am in the bath I either opt for a Lush Bath bomb or one of my Molton Brown Bubble baths, both my all time favourites. If I don't need to wash my hair I chuck a multicolored bath bomb in the bath and just watching the colours change relaxes me. If I do need to wash my hair I pour in one of two Molton Brown Bubble Baths which are Mesmerising Oudh Accord & Gold or Vintage With Elderflower which both leave the water sparkling and smelling gorgeous. I received so many bottles of Molton Brown for Christmas that I am slowly working my way through them all but these two bubbles baths are the stand out heroes so far. I also received loads of Lush but that is coming in another post!

Once my bath is ready I like to rest my ipad in the wooden holder I got for Christmas from my sister (mega sister points for that gift!), light all the candles in my bathroom, make a glass of wine or in this case fresh orange juice and watch a good film or a couple of episodes of a series on Netflix. I am currently obsessed with Friends because I am a basic 90s girl so you can usually find me glued to the screen because I love it so much. I've written a few posts about what I watch on Netflix so go on over and have a gander for something to watch! I am planning to posting a new one soon since so much has been added to Netflix recently and I have watched so many good things. ( 6 Netflix Docs You Need To Watch and Top Picks On Netflix)

Once my episode has finished or I have started to go wrinkly I get out of the bath and smoother my skin in the Lush Sleepy Body Lotion and the name of this lotion is perfect because the smell of this product makes me want to go sleep. If I have a late bath and then cover my skin in the Sleepy Lotion that is my night over, as soon as my body touches my bed I'm gone. Its great to use if I really need an early night. I also have started using a hand cream every night before I go bed even though it doesn't happen every night but I am trying. I currently have the Lush Love and Light hand cream tub beside my bed to remind me. I am finding this winter when I do remember my skin is so thankful for it later on!

Now once I have bathed and cover my whole body in the good stuff I reach for a new pair of cute pj's to put on and complete the' born again' feeling. Having a bath and then putting on dirty pj's is like bathing in dirty water, not worth it! I normally reach for my coziest pair of clean pj's and give myself a pat on the back for keeping up on the dirty bin!

Depending on what kind of day it has been and how much energy I have I like to do a face mask if I feel like my face needs one. I have fallen a little out of love with face masks recently so I only have one which I reach for when I really need  a pick me up. That is the Origin Original Skin Re Texturizing Mask with Rose Clay, one that is mentioned regularly on the blog. I like this mask because it is easy to use, doesn't make a mess and the results are easy to see straight away. Luckily my skin hasn't needed this mask much recently so I am hoping my skin have found a right balance for now.

Once my skin has been taken care of I go and see Cal for a little cuddle and then it is bed and book time for me to relax my mind. When I have a lot of things going on in my mind or I have been running around a lot for work I really need some reading time. I am a huge book worm and am currently reading Origin by Dan Brown who is one of my favourite authors. I love reading about religion, science and murder and so far this book isn't disappointing. I have all of Dan Browns previous books and I like to read them because they imaginative and they take me away from my life and what is happening around me. Usually after an hour or two of reading i am whipped out and ready for bed and I usually sleep like a baby after one of these evenings.

I hope you have enjoyed learning about my current pamper nights. Writing this has made me really one a pamper night tonight and Sundays are the perfect night for these!

5 things that are making me happy right now

Right now my life is at a great stage where I enjoy every part of it and don't feel like there is anything missing. That is a bold statement but really, you don't new everything all at once anyway?
Here is a list of the things that are making me happy at the moment ..

~Having my own space
My parents are currently on holiday for 2 weeks so I have the house to myself which I am loving!

~Spending quality time with the girls
I have a tight girl group of 3 girls who don't always get a chance to get together every week but make time for one another as much as we can. We all have things like work and relationships that take up a lot of our time but when we all get together for a girlie night, they are the best!

~Having someone who makes you happy and who you can be yourself around
Having someone who knows you so well and can sit in a room with you and not say a word but look at you like they are having the best time ever, is the best feeling in the world.

~Achieving goals on a daily basis
At work achieving your daily goals and getting acknowledgement of your hard work is what makes working in a demanding sector worth it.

~Feeling like your in the right track and going at a right pace
There's nothing better than feeling like your where your meant to be. I didn't know what I wanted to do in life for so long but now I'm in a managerial role which I am lucky to have and never take for granted. I know in some form where I want to end up and I'm excited for the journey.

Day out in Cambridge

Here are some of the photos I took during my day trip to Cambridge with two good friends of mine who you'll see in some of the photos, it was such a good day even though the sun decided to disappear this day.
#1- Me and James before we set off for the drive to Cambridge, Our breakfast of cinnamon buns with extra chocolate (YUM), a selfie of me, James and Tom, the boys after they enjoyed their breakfast
#2 - James doing all the work and Tom pretending he is helping, standard selfie on the river, a working James and a smiling Tom
#3 -Pictures of sights along the river with a selfie in-between
 #4 -More river sights
#5 - Three very different selfies with the boys on the river (James' face in the last one is my favourite!)

#6&7 - Photos of the Museum of Archaeology & Anthropology in Cambridge with a selfie of me and James being lazy and taking the lift

Cambridge is fast becoming my favourite place to visit so expect more photos of trips to visit the boys down there in the future! :)

My blogging break: What I've been doing

As you may or may not have noticed I have been severely slacking in the blog post department recently and I'll tell you why, I'm a human being who gets distracted by other things and falls out of love with things after a while. Lots of things have changed recently in my day to day life which has kept me busy and distracted, which has resulted in me writing naff posts here and there so that I've at least posted something that month. And I think its about time I got organised and get back on top :)

I thought the best way to start afresh and really get back into it was to write a post telling you all about the stuff I have been doing recently that has kept me so busy, give you an insight into my life as I find these posts more enjoying than reviewing a product if I'm honest.

So Chelsea what have you been up to since April time...?

One thing that has really impacted my day to day life recently has been work, I was officially promoted to Sales Team Leader at my work this June (after being the holding Sales Team Leader since January) :D so I've been super excited about that, and with this new title I have more responsibilities around work, especially when I am the only management in for a day. So that has really been wiping my out lately causing me to come home, make some food and flop into bed (more of a dive bomb really..). The thought of sitting on a computer for a few hours typing up something didn't really appeal to me for a while, so my laptop has been hibernating under my bed for too long now.

As well as work wiping my out with the long stressful days, I have also joined back at the gym to get back in shape after a significant number of months away. An hour in the gym or an hour class after work has been really effecting my energy levels, again I've been hibernating in bed to recover haha. But its worth it right? Kim K here I come...

I've also been making a conscious effort to see my friends more, especially my favourite girls who have busy lifes and partners that keeps them busy themselves. A night at the pub or at a restaurant for dinner has been a reoccurring theme in my weekdays in recent weeks and certain aspects of my friends lifes have changed so that seeing them during the week is easier now :)

I've also been going on adventures with friends to my new favourite place recently too, Cambridge. I could see myself living in Cambridge after my first visit there and so me and my friend James have travelled down a few times just to spend the day exploring the town and relaxing in my favourite spot, Jesus park. It is so peaceful and just a change of scenery.

Here are some photos from my most recently trip :)

Lastly, the weather recently has been amazing, what I've seen of it on my days off anyway... so I've been enjoying the sunshine on my days off having bbqs, going for walks with my family and grabbing lunch in pub gardens and just sitting outside in the sun with a drink and friend chatting about life.
