I have spoken before about how much I love a striped back skincare routine and through January I have had three firm favourites that have helped over haul my skin. Firstly I have been trying out properly the Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm which I picked up back in November . I have spoke before about how I didn't like it at first as I felt you had to break the first layer of product to really be able to pick up any balm, well I have well and truly broke the seal now and I love this cleanser. I use it in the mornings to wash my face, in the evening to take my makeup off and all over my face except for my eyes. It does say you can use this product on the eyes but having sensitive eyes myself, I find it makes the area quite dry. The cleanser breaks down makeup really easily and leaves my skin feeling super clean. The product is really smooth and nourishing on the skin so my face never feels striped after using it which I can find with some balms. I got into using this product daily at the start of January and I have used it every day since and love it.
After Christmas my skin didn't want to co-operate at all and I had mountain after mountain appear on my chin so I decided to try something new. The L'oreal Pure Clay Masks have been floating around everywhere recently and having a real obsession with masks I wanted to try one of them. I opted for the Charcoal Detox Mask to really clear my skin of all the gunk that had been clogging it. Since purchasing it about 2 weeks ago I have used this mask twice a week and since then, my chin has completely turn around. The spots on my chin were big puss spots which I would pop and then they would reappear. The worst thing about them was that no amount of makeup would cover them which I hated. Since using this mask the spots have become less angry, less puss fill and are slowly going away so it has saved my skin this month.
Lastly I mentioned in my January Favourites post that I don't change up my moisturisers very much but since the start of January I have fell in love with a new moisturiser which I have now sadly ran out of. It is the Lush Gorgeous Moisturiser which I had a little tester pot for from Christmas. Since trying it at the beginning of January I have used it nearly every day since because it is the perfect moisturiser to wear underneath foundation. You don't need a lot of product for it to do its job, it leaves your skin tacky at first so doubles as a primer for your foundation and if you leave it to sink into the skin, it leaves it feeling really smooth and soft. If I wasn't on a spending ban I would go and repurchase it straight away but sadly since I am, I will have to make my way through my remaining pots first before I can justify buying any more.
Do you have any products you have tried in January you would recommend?

My everyday makeup routine has changed up recently since I introduced some new products and some old products which I had forgotten about back into my routine.
B A S E
I recently got this little sample of Mac's Prep and Prime to try and I can't actually believe I have never tried it before. It feels more like a moisturiser than a primer which is why I really like using this product. It leaves my skin so soft and smooth so my foundations applies so nicely afterwards. I have finally started trying out the L'Oreal Infallible Stay Fresh Foundation properly and I like it so far. Compared to the matte formula of the foundation I find it feels more clogging on the skin and oxidizes when I first apply it but I can get away with it as I have quite a tanned neck thank god. I have been applying this foundation with my beauty blender which I wet first with the Newlook Fix Makeup Setting Spray which I think makes so much difference. I find the foundation gives me a nice glow but doesn't have the best coverage so I do have to go in with my concealers after. Maybelline Fit Me concealer in 10 works perfectly under my eyes to brighten my bags and the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer in 2 cool medium covers all my annoying blemishes with a thin layer. Lastly for powder I brought back out the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder which is an old classic.

To give me so killer cheekbones (or try anyway) I have been using my W7 Honolulu which I got in a Christmas calendar. This contour is the perfect colour and suits my skin tone so well, I would describe it as a dark ashy toned brown. It works as a contour and bronzer product so depending on what look you are going for you cover both bases. I have been double bronzing lately though so I have been packing on the Benefit Hoola bronzer on top of my contour and with a soft hand it can look really natural.

Since glitter was used way too much over Christmas I have ditched the eye shadow lately and opted for just some mascara to keep my eyes simple. I dug out my little mini Clinique High Impact Mascara from my collection and I have really been loving it. For brows I have been kicking it old school with my Soap and Glory Brow Archery in Brownie Points. To set my brows I am working my way through a pot of Sleek Clear Brow Gel which I totally forgot about for most of last year.
My current face routine has changed a lot recently with a few new products added to my everyday makeup bag and I thought it was about time I show you guys whats I have been loving. My new second skin has been the L'Oreal True Match foundation in the shade Vanilla Rose. I have heard so much about this foundation from Youtubers and Bloggers and I finally followed my heart and purchased it. The foundation is so dewy and glowy but in a none shinny and oily way, I was worried the shade I picked might be too dark but it matches me perfectly and gives me a nice natural tan as well as blending in well with my skin. I agree that this product is super bendable, it doesn't matter how much I slap on my face it still all blends in together and doesn't look caked on at all.
To conceal my current favourite is the Miss Sporty Perfect Stay Concealer in Light which I tried out mainly because of Gabrielle I'm not going to lie. It definitely isn't a concealer to use on spots as the converge isn't there but as for under eye brightening, it is spot on. The light shade is perfect for brightening my eye area with my current foundation shades.
To add a spot of dimension to my round face and my chubby cheeks I have been using the Maybeline Master Sculpt Contour and Highlighter in the shade 01. You can't go wrong with this powder as the contour gives a subtle contour to your face so you wont look like a drag queen by accident, something that I am prone to do often! The highlighter shade really compliments the subtle glow of the contour and I really like the effect it gives my face.
As for eyes and brows I have been using my SmashBox Brow Tech Matte Pencil for absolutely months now, I purchased it at Biecster Village late last year and I haven't used another product since. It is so easy to work I haven't needed anything else since. To make my eyes more open I have been using the L'Oreal Volume Million Lashes which keep its hold all day if I use eye lash curlers.
So this is all I have been putting on my face recently when usually I like to pick and choose from my whole makeup collection. What are some of your current favourites?
I've realised that I have never done a post on the skin care products I am using at any point so I thought I would do a little post for you now on my current skincare now, which also gives me a chance to tell you about a new range from Simple that I am trying, their Clear Skin range.
At the moment I am using a combination of three products in the mornings and evening to keep my skins looking decent (some sort of decent). The first product I use in the mornings is the Simple Kind To Skin refreshing facial wash gel which I am finding really refreshing and leaves my skin feeling really clean. This gel is formulated for people with sensitive skin and I have found it doesn't make my skin red and blouchy like other facial washes I have used recently.
After I have washed my face with the facial wash gel I then rub a pea size amount of Simple Clear Skin oil balancing moisturiser all over my face. I picked this up as I was intrigued to see how my skin reacted to it as recently I have found my skin became irritated whenever I applied moisturiser to my face. Also a moisturiser for oily skin? Perfect!
Lastly in the evening before I go bed and after I have removed my make up, I am using the Simple Clear Skin oil balancing facial scrub to remove any more makeup and clear my skin for the night so that while I am asleep it can breath. I then apply the Simple Clear Skin oil balancing moisturiser.
I am already seeing a change in my skin since I have started using these products, I think the combination of all three works well with my skin and I have had less spots come up. Thank god!

Here are my current skincare products that I use every night that I find work well for my skin. They may not work the same for everyone but they definitely help keep my skin at it's clearest and since my skin has not been too kind to me during the last year, these products are life savers!
# Simples Kind To Eyes Nourishing Eye make-up remover cream
The first thing I always do is remove my eye liner and mascara with this cream, unlike other creams it doesn't hurt your eyes at all (even when I actually get it in my eye) and it doesn't dry out the skin around your eye after you used it.
#Garnier Simple Essentials Soothing 2 in 1 make-up remover
I use this product to take my foundation/blusher/bronzer off and I am always amazed with how much comes off onto the cotton wool pad. This can be used on the eyes as well but I personally prefer to use creams on my eyes then liquids. The best thing about this make-up remover is that it has no perfume or alcohol in it so it doesn't irritate the skin when you use it. Plus it is suitable for sensitive skin too which mine can be during certain times of the year.
#Soap and Glory Peaches and Cream 3-in-1 Wash Off Deep Purifying cleanser
After I've taken all my make-up off I like to then wash my face with this cleanser just to get any last bits of makeup off of my face before I go to sleep. My friend recommended it to me last month when I was getting rather bad spots on my chin and around my lips and since I started using it my skin had definitely cleared up, to the point where I have only one or two little spots left.
# Sudocrem
Lastly before I start putting any night creams on my face I rub a little Sudocrem on any spots I currently have, Sudocrem never fails to do the job.
Night creams
My current favourite night creams to use are
# Simple Sensitive Hydrating Eye cream
This eye cream is really hydrating on the skin and it doesn't irritate it because it has Aloe Vera in it. I've had this tube for probably over 6 months so it does last a long time.
# Soap and Glory Night in Skinning Armour cream
I love this night cream so much, my skin always feels great after I use it. For most of the year my skin can be quite dry and this cream helps keep it hydrated during the colder months. Again the pot has only just ran out so it does last a long time and I will definitely be re-purchasing it.
So that's the skincare routine that works for me, give some of the products a go and see if they work for you too :)
