Three Drugstore Concealers You Need

makeup, beauty, concealer, collection, miss sporty, bourjois, drugstore, collection 2000,

Concealers can sometimes be more important then foundation depending on the state of your skin and I have three concealers that I go in between constantly. I've always been told you shouldn't use the same concealer to cover all the problems on you face and mine come sometimes be in double figures! It is good to have a range of different formulas and shades to work with and here are my top three concealers for my skin!

The Cover Up - Collection Lasting Perfection
This concealer is the best concealer in the drugstore for covering spots and blemishes. I know every blogger and YouTuber shouts about this product and at one point it was in every video and every blog post, but that is because it is just so good. Whenever I have an angry spots or some really rosey cheeks, this stuff covers it up completely and makes me look human again. It doesn't cake on my skin no matter how much I top it up and I don't need powder to set it, plus it always blends in perfectly with your foundation. Like any make up product though, the more you touch your face the shorter time the product lasts and I have a habit of always touching my face, especially if I have a blemish I want to make sure hasn't grown in size. Long story short - don't touch you face and the concealer will last all day!
I have shade Light and Medium

The Under Eye - Miss Sporty Perfect Stay Concealer
This concealer is rarely spoken about in the beauty world but it definitely deserves more credit in my eyes. I use this product under my eyes everyday to brighten my eye area and cover my permanent bags. I tend to suffer from dark bags under my eyes 6/7 days of the week and I find some concealers just exaggerate the problem and especially the few lines I have there as well. This concealer brighten my eyes and doesn't make my lines look worse. Brilliant!
I have shade Light and Medium

The Radiant Look - Bourjois Radiance Reveal
When I need a little bit more help to look awake or if I am going for a really healthy glowy look then this concealer really comes in handy. It is super brightening on the eyes and on the days when I have had little or no sleep, this product makes me look human again. It is also the perfect concealer to use for highlighting your features when you contour as well as it is so bright. You do need a light hand with this product as I find applying too much can make you look like a ghost and if there is anything worse than dark bags under your eyes, its white bags!
I have the shade Light

I'd love to know some of your favourite drugstore concealers!

My Everyday Base Makeup for Tanned Skin

Body shop, hoola, rimmel, collection, collection 2000, everyday, base,

Since getting a glowing (If I do say so myself) tan on holiday my daily makeup routine has changed and the products I use everyday have changed too. My Ivory and Vanilla shade foundations are now taking a well earned rest and have been replaced with two darker products that don't see much light.

I am dabbling between my Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation in Soft Beige and my Body Shop All-In-One BB Cream in shade 01. They both are a perfect shade for my tanned skin and keep my skin looking fresh and glowing.

To cover my eye bags and any spots or blemishes I use the Collection Lasting Perfection concealer in Cool Medium. The shade matches my foundation perfectly and covers up any bits I don't like.

To bronze and contour I have been using the Benefit Hoola Bronzer which I have never liked before. I never found that the shade suited me before so it used to just lay in my makeup draw collecting dust for months. Now that I have a tan I understand the hype about the bronzer, it really is a perfect bronze colour (on the right shade face).

If you have any recommendations of good foundations in these shades for glowing tanned skin let me know! I am liking this tanned look and may get back into regular fake tanning to keep it. (if I can be bothered to keep it up...)

Simple Face of the Day

This post should be called 'Lazy face of the day' because I am so lazy recently with my routine that I am ashamed. I am also very lazy because I didn't take any of my makeup off last night because I fell asleep so I didn't want to cover my face in products all over again today.

Anyway ramble over... time for the products!

Since coming back from Barcelona I have been loving this CC cream by Bourjois, I find it does everything it claims to on the packaging. It covers my dark spots (which I'm starting to get more of now) and it definitely covers my redness. I have said before that I have quite red cheeks especially after washing my face and I try and cover them up as best I can, this cream covers them great and gives me a nice coverage as well as giving a glow to my skin. This makes my skin look nice and healthy on them bad skin days.

Next is my trusty Collection 2000 concealer in the shade Medium, I recently moved from the Fair shade to the Medium shade which I wish I done long ago, I didn't realise how light the Fair shade was for me until I tried the Medium which is probably my perfect shade. No more white eyes for me! Anyway this is great for covering dark bags and spots as it has a great coverage and blends in so nice that you cant tell that you've used it at all.

For my cheeks It has been all about the bronzers and contours for me recently and I decided it was time to mix things up and opted for a blusher instead. A favourite of mine this past week has been the Revolution Bronzer Blush and Highlighter trio which is the perfect size to carry around with you. The blush is a natural pink shade which isn't too much for a day to day look. I have been using this blush to give my cheeks that little bit of colour.

For my Eyebrows shock I used my favourite eyebrow product ever the MUA Pro-Brow eyebrow kit. I wont harp on too much about this product, if you want to read more about it check out my full post about it here.

Lastly you cant forget the eyes. I recently got as a freebee this Clinique High Impact Mascara when I bought another product and I am trying it out this week for the first time. So far so good! I really like the brush as it is fibre instead of plastic so its adds volume to your lashes and my little lashes need some! I also love the size of it as I again I can carry it around in my bag and the fact that its green means I can find it in my tray of mascaras. No one understands this annoyance unless you store your mascaras in a tray and they all look the same!

So here is my simple (lazy) face of the day, there are a few newbe products and a few golden oldies. What are you wearing on your face today? :)

How To Cover | Red Pigmentation and Blemishes

I don't know about the rest of you but my skin is very temperamental, really really temperamental.  Recently I have been suffering with really bad redness on my cheeks and red dots all along my cheeks and chin.
This could be a result of a few different factors (rubbish food and stressful days at work aren't helping) but I have been using a few products that I have found really useful in covering up my blemish skin and making it look even.
Because my skin has been so horrible lately, I have been using these products nearly every day and I've got into a bit of routine in applying them.

Prep
Prepping your skin before you cover it in products is really important not just to help your products last through the day but also to stop them from looking cakey or even flakey if you suffer from dry skin. There are two products that I use to prep my skin before I load it with foundation and concealer, the Simple Oil Balancing Moisturiser and the Christian Dior Pore Minimizer Skin Refining Matte Primer.
The moisturiser is good at giving my skin some added moisture and boost without drowning it and I only need to wait a few minutes before I can start adding my primer. It also helps control shine which we all suffer from now and again.
The primer helps me get a matte looking finish and helps keep my foundation and concealer on for longer, so my horrible red cheeks are hidden for longer.
Together these two products are great as a duo and perfect as a base for under foundation.

Conceal
After I  have prepped my face I put my Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer in Ivory on any reddnes on my cheeks and any spots I might have. This doesn't cover the blemishes completely by its self but its does help me disguise my blemishes before I add my foundation.

Cover
Next I cover my whole face in foundation like I would normally do, because I have prepped my face with moisturiser and primer my face shouldn't look cakey or orange with my foundation on too. The foundation works as a mask to even out my skin so that my concealer is now invisible and my skin looks naturally even.
I  have been going between two different foundations recently which are the Rimmel Match Perfection in shade Warm Ivory which has a medium to full coverage so is handy on the days when my skin is really bad, and the Maybelline Fit Me in shade 115 Ivory which has less coverage then the Rimmel product so is useful on the days when my skin isn't to blotchy.

Top Up
Lastly, so that my make-up lasts the day and my blemishes stay hidden, I use the Collection 2000 pressed powder in Transparent to set my make up and I then use it through the day to top up my make up and keep it looking fresh. No one likes a patchy face in the afternoon!

I would post a photo of my skin before I have applied these products to show you have good they work but who wants to see my spotty red face, I'm saving your eyes!

My travel make up bag

I'm currently spending the week round my sisters flat while she is on holiday. When i was packing a bag to come here it dawned on me that i wouldn't have all my products at hand and i would have to pick certain products to take with me.
Luckily for me I have some make up products that i always use and i swear by so filling my makeup bag wasn't hard.

For concealers I bought the two that i always use day to day. I use my Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer in Fair 1 underneath my eyes and on my nose. Then I'll use my Rimmel Wake Me Up concealer on any red or off colour skin before i put foundation on. If i have any little spots i will use this concealer on top to hide the little buggers.

For foundations i bought my two favorite ones at the moment that always leave my skin looking good and arent too heavy on my skin. My favourite out of the two is the Rimmel Match Perfection Smart Tone Technology in 230 Warm Ivory. This is a repurchase i made recently because the first ever foundation i bought was the same brand but in just Ivory. It is too light for me to use now so i needed to update a shade. The second is my Maybelline Superstay 24 hours in 010 Ivory. This is great when im having a bad skin day and i want a little more coverage. Read my review post on this (here)

For powders i bought the two that i use everyday without fail as they work perfectly for me. I'll cover my whole face with the Collection 2000 Pressed Powder in 02 Tendertouch to set my makeup. I'll then use my Miss Sporty So Matte Perfect Stay Pressed Powder in 002 Medium on my cheek bones and my temples to define them.

For my cheeks i bought my two Elf cosmetics blushers that i am in love with! The All Over Stick in 3101 Pink Lemonade and the Baked Blush in Cheeky Peachy. I wont say too much about these as i have already reviewed the All over stick (here) and the Baked Blush (here). All you need to know is they both look great on the skin and are perfect for the spring time.

For my eyes I bought my trusty Elf Mineral Eye Liner which is great at making my eyes really stand out and is really easy to blend out. For mascara i bought the Maybelline Rocket Volume Express mascara  as it is perfect for everyday use and can be built up for the evening.

For my lips i have 4 lipsticks that work for me no matter what I'm wearing and where I'm going. The first is a lipstick i actually found on eBay. It may sound wear buying makeup off of eBay but it is brand new and really cheap. The make I like is Laval Classic and the shade is Mystic Pink. Now the shade names aren't really suitable for the shades that they actually are but as long as you look at the photos before you buy any then you'll know what your getting. I love this lipstick, it applies well, lasts a long time and doesn't dry out my lips when I'm wearing it. For £1 something they are definitely worth a look! (here)

The next lipstick is the Revlon Colourburst Lip butter in 063 Wild Watermelon which is a gorgeous red shade which isnt too bold to look too much on a day to day basis. These lip butters are so nourishing on my lips, they feel like lip balms.

The next lipstick is the Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in shade 086 Sugarplum. Its great to add a pop of colour to a dull outfit.

The last lipstick is probably my favourite out of all of them. Its a Avon lipstick in the shade is Rosey Gold. It is a lovely colour that looks great on the lips because of the shimmer it has to it. Again it is really moisturising on the lips so feels great on.

And there you go my Travel Make Up Bag is complete. Look out for my Travel Shower Bag post coming up soon! xx

January Top 5: Make-up

I'm going to jump on the bandwagon and start writing monthly favourite posts every month (obviously haha) on items that I have been loving that month. So I don't write a massive blog post that might get a bit tedious, I'm going to group the favourites into separate blogs: Make up, Skincare and Hair care and Random.
So lets just jump into it... these are the 5 make up items that I have be loving this January :)

Revlon Photo Ready Crème blush in 300 Coral Reef
I've never been a fan of crème blushes until I tried this Revlon one. It's a great colour on my skin and looks really natural, which I found other crème blushes don't. This product has changed my opinion on crème blushes so I'm kind of excited to try some other ones, any recommendations?

Collection 2000 Extreme Coloured Lengthening Mascara in Blue2
I like to mix up my make-up some days and wear this bright blue mascara on my lashes. If I wake up in a summery mood, I wear this with some bright coloured clothes and pretend its the middle of the summer (I'm counting down the days till I can go outside without wearing a coat) This mascara isn't too in your face because in some lights, it does just look like normal black mascara.

Rimmel Scandaleyes waterproof eye pencil in 004Taupe
I love this eye pencil on my bottom lid as it opens up my eyes without making my eyes look too heavy which black eyeliner can do. Plus it looks nice on my top lid with a little mascara for these casual days.

Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in 086 Sugarplum
This lipstick is in my January favourites basically because I can't get enough of this colour and it smells like sweets, what could be better!

Lumiere Lipgloss set
My sister got me this lip-gloss set from Boots for Christmas and they have become my favourite lip glosses ever. The shades are really nice and wearable during the day and they don't dry out my lips like other lip glosses. I've tried to find them on the Boots website but they seem to have been taken off, but they should come back out again next Christmas.

And that's basically it, short and sweet just like me :)
