Spring Makeup Edit

Spring Makeup Edit Spring Makeup Edit Spring Makeup Edit

Since the clocks have finally gone forward I think its about time I embraced the spring season in full swing. I feel like I've been waiting for spring to come around for so long, this winter has definitely took its toll on me. I am ready for the coral shades and the sunshine days.

During the spring time I like to keep my base quite simple and light so I'll been wearing my Bourjois City Radiance foundation in the shade 02 which has been a favourite of mine since I tried it out late last year. It is a light weight medium coverage foundation which looks flawless and glowy on the skin and lasts all day on my face. When you first apply this foundation it looks really light compared to the skin but once it is blended it it is my perfect skin shade. As well as the Bourjois foundation I like to use the Bourjois Radiance concealer in the shade 01 Ivory to cover my under eyes circles, it brightens as well as concealers the area which is perfect for a spring healthy makeup look.

To keep my base in place all day I have a few primers/liquid products which keep my makeup in place and gives me a little subtle glow underneath my foundation. The Nivea Post Shaving Balm has been a favourite of mine during the warmer months since last year as it holds my base in place all day and makes me look so healthy. Two new base products that are perfect for the spring time are the Tanya Burr Face Illuminator and L'Oreal True Match Highlighter in Golden Glow which are both are firm favourites of mine.

On my cheeks I have a new blush which I know what your thinking, 'you don't even wear blush?!'. Yes I know I haven't wore blush in probably years but I have finally found a blush that works for me. This Newlook Baked Blush in Morocan Rose which is a golden rose shade which I think really suits my skin tone and looks gorgeous mixed with a golden bronzer. My go to bronzer for the spring time is the Bodyshop Honey Bronzer in 01 which is a super natural bronzer that looks good even when I am really pale.

On my eyes I have two pink palettes which are perfect for the spring time and look gorgeous on the eyes. The first is the W7 In The Nude Palette which I have mentioned a few times and pull it out whenever I want a pinky look. The palette includes some lovely matte shades and a few shimmer shades which wore really well with the matte shades underneath. The other palette is the Seventeen Easy On The Eyes palette in Birthday Suit which includes 4 cream shades and 8 powder shades which I have been using non stop this past week. I like to use the cream golden nude shade as a base for the powder eye shadow and then top it off with the golden pink powder shades which make my eyes pop.

On the lips I have two very similar lip glosses which I like to wear with minimal makeup which are Soap and Glory's Sexy Mother Pucker Gloss in Plumsup and Mac's Cremesheen in Deelight which are both similar baby pink shades which look quite minimal but pretty at the same time. You can whack these glosses on and it looks like you have made a lot of effort.

YouTube and Blogging Made Me Buy It

YouTube and Blogging Made Me Buy It
Watching YouTube and reading blogs means my bank balance regularly gets a bashing after a new product is raved about and like most people I get taken in by the hype of products. My collection is full of products that I have seen someone I look up to talk about and thankfully most of the items are good with only 3 products I wouldn't recommend.

T H E G O O D

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer
This is a cult classic for most people and I tried this product right at the beginning when I was starting out and haven't looked back since. It really is as good as everyone says and I recommend this to everyone.

Baby Lips
You guys know how bad I suffer from dry lips and since trying these lip balms many moons ago I haven't bought another product since. They last me ages even though I use them multiply times a day and are great to wear underneath lip products.

Real Techniques Brushes
Being a blogger I always want to support other bloggers who bring out products and the Real Technics brushes are items I would happily buy multiple times to show my support. They are some of my favourite brushes to use and even though I do have some cheap versions in my collection, I do always go back to the originals when I want my face to look the best.

NYX Lips
These exploded last year in the blogging community and when the counter finally came to the town next to mine I picked up a few bits to try and fell in love with the products. I have three lip creams which I regularly keep in my makeup bag for everyday use and there are so many more NYX lip products I can't wait to try.

Nivea Post Shaving Balm
Nikki Tutorials made this such a popular product that I thought this was going to completely change my life. I do love using this as a primer as my skin looks amazing and last for so long, it is perfect for weddings or nights out when you want your skin to stay fresh all day/night. I don't wear it very much though as I do think it causes spots on my skin so I save it for special occasions.

L'Oreal True Match Foundation
Nearly ever beauty blogger or YouTuber has this foundation in their collection it seems and I totally understand why. it is amazing at making my skin glow and look like I have the perfect skin. I go through stages of wearing it everyday and then not wearing it for weeks because I don't want to run out. The price of this product is great and definitely worth a try if you don't have it in your collection.

Top Shop Glow Pot
At one time nearly everyone was using this highlighter in blog posts and videos and now its kind of become forgotten about. This is a great highlighter at such a good price, a lot of people have compared this highlighter to many high end products which show how good it is. The only down side to this product is that it does rub off my foundation when I apply it. Knowing me though, I am probably applying it wrong.

Benefit Hoola Bronzer
I don't know anyone who doesn't like this bronzer and that shows how popular this bronzer actually is. I bought it a very long time ago and I still love it as much as when I first got. I think the best thing about it is that you can use it as a bronzer as well as a contour because the tone of the product is perfect for both.

Maybelline Colour Tattoo
To this day I still use my Colour Tattoos on a regular basis as they are so easy to use. I have 3 shades in this and I think its time to pick up a few more shades soon. They blend really easily and last a long time on the lids so they are definitely worth the hype for me. I love to use them on lazy makeup days.

T H E  B A D
Mac Studio Fix
So many people love this foundation so of course I had to try it but I have been disappointed. I hardly use this foundation but I can't bare to throw it away or pass it on because I want to like it. I like natural looking skin and this foundation can look natural if your don't use a lot of product but most of the time when I wear it, it just ends up looking cakey. I find with this foundation I don't like the look of it until its been on for a few hours which isn't good because then I have to take it off. I think for the price, the foundation just isn't worth it.

Benefit Erase Paste
This concealer was really hyped about when it first came out and that made me try it out not long after it surfaced. I got the shade fair which I thought would be great for me but it was really orange toned, when I had a tan it wasn't too bad on my skin but the coverage and the tone just didn't work for me. Also the pot was really annoying to use.

Bodyshop Shade Adjusting Drops
Everyone went crazy for these drops when they first came out and I really wanted to try out the dark drops because I thought they would be more useful. I don't know whether I used it wrong but every time I used these drops my foundation just looks muddy which is not the look I was going for. I started using the drops to cream contour my face which worked better than darkening my foundation but since I don't cream contour very often, the product just didn't get used.

How To Get A Glow This Festive Season

How To Get A Glow This Festive Season

During the festive season I like to fake a natural glow because I am usually super pale during the colder months so I thought I would round up some of the products that I love to give me that lovely glow.

Starting off with some fake tan I currently love the St Moriz Wash Off Tan in medium for giving my whole body a even subtle tan. I love this product because I am not the best tanner so I don't always remember to keep up with it but it doesn't matter with this product. The tan doesn't apply streaky and even better, it doesn't turn streaky as it fades. I find this lasts a good few days on my skin and you can build it up quite easy for a big night out. I will definitely use this running up to my works Christmas night out.

The primer that gives my skin the most glowing complexion no matter what type of foundation I wear is the Nivea Post Shave Balm.  I can wear this with matte foundation and it still gives my skin an amazing healthy dewy glow. This primer used with the L'oreal True Match Foundation is the perfect combo. The L'oreal foundation is just like the primer in the fact  you can wear it by itself for a really nice glow but when you pair it with this primer the glow you get is amazing. I need to go out and get more shades in this foundation so I have a shade for all year round.

Lastly I have delved into the world of illuminators lately and I am loving life. The Tanya Burr Face Illuminator is a lovely product that I am glad I have in my life. If I am wearing a duller looking foundation or a matte foundation I can use this product after my primer and before my foundation and it gives my skin an added extra glow. This illuminator is a more subtle glow on the face compared to the L'oreal True Match Highlighter in Golden Glow which is a more golden shimmer consistency. I like to use the L'oreal illuminator on the tops of my cheekbones underneath my foundation and it makes my cheekbones really pops out whereas I use the Tanya Burr illuminator all over my face.

What do you use to add a glow to your routine?

My Summer Proof Face

bourjois, Clinique, collection, L'Oreal, MAC, makeup, Miss Sporty, Newlook, nivea, summer,

With the sudden heat wave in England keeping your face on during the day can be a struggle, especially when you drive a way to work and the car has a habit of melting your face off! Here are a few products that I have found keep my makeup on all day during this hot weather.

When it is hot and sweaty weather using a primer is key to keeping your makeup on. The best one I have found is the Nivea Post Shaving Balm which is amazing at giving my skin a dewying look and keeping my foundation on. I don't like to use this primer every day as I tend to get little spots on my face when I use it frequently (if anyone else has found that let me know so I know its not just me!) so I only use this product when I going somewhere important, am going to be out for a long day or of course when it is really hot.

I choose between three foundations when the weather is super hot outside and all of these are great at not clogging my skin and lasting all day in the heat. One of the foundations I have spoke about recently because it is a new favourite of mine.  The L'Oreal True Match foundation is so amazing! It has great coverage, gives my skin a dewy effect, lasts all day on my face and never looks cakey. This foundation combined with the Nivea primer gives me the best summer skin!

My other two foundations that I love during the hot weather are the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum and the Foundation which are great light bases. These are my typical summer products as they are super lightweight on the face and give you just a small coverage just enough to cover blemishes but still keep your skin light and unclogged. If you are having a bad skin day I wouldn't use these unless you were going to go to town with the concealer as they don't cover much up but if your only have a few flecks across your skin a little bit of concealer will sort you right out.

bourjois, Clinique, collection, L'Oreal, MAC, makeup, Miss Sporty, Newlook, nivea, summer, The two concealers that I use everyday without a doubt are the Collection Lasting Perfection in Cool Medium and the Miss Sporty Perfect Stay Concealer in Light. The collection concealer is great at covering spots and reddness while the Miss Sport concealer is great at brightening up my permanent eye bags.

To keep my face from sweating off I have found that the Newlook Pure Colour Loose Power is the best at setting my makeup into place. I tend to only use power bronzer and contour products during the hot weather as they tend to last longer in the heat and my two favourites at the moment are the Maybelline Master Sculpt and the Body Shop Bronzing Power.

To give my eye a little something I tend to only use a cream eye shadow as they are easy to apply and don't wear off during the day even in high heats. My favourite is the Maybelline Colour Tattoo in On and On Bronze, a perfect golden bronze shade which looks good by itself or under a power eye shadow.

Lastly on my lips to keep them moisturised I like to use either my Mac Cremesheen in Delight or my Clinique Pop Lip Colour in Bare Pop. These both keep my lips super moisturised and full of colour while I'm out in the sun.

June Loving

monthly, favourites, june, harry potter, barry m, Revolution, maybeline, Nivea, l'oreal, makeup, lifestyle,

During June I have had a few favourite things that have been making a regularly reappearance. My go to base for the month has been the Nivea Men Post Shaving Balm as my primer and the L'oreal True Match foundation in Vanilla Rose. My skin looks so glowy and fresh when I use both of these products, even when I am having dull skin days these two perk me up and make me look fresh faced and fully rested.

To contour my face I have been dabbing between my Revolution Sculpt and Contour Kit and my Maybelline Master Sculpt in 01 light. These both give a subtle contour on the face and aren't too pigmented when you use a light hand so you don't have to worry about looking too 'drag queen'. Both include a lovely highlighter which is handy to carry around with you when you need a little pick me up during the day.

On my eyes I have been loving the look of the Mac Paint Pot in Blackground as a eyeliner, it gives a subtle line which I can blend out or add more to to make it more prominent. I find this lasts a lot longer than kohl eyeliners on me which is a big bonus.

On my nails I have been loving this Coconut Infusion Barry M nail polish in the shade 612 Flamingo. This is a perfect summer shade on the nails to brighten up any outfit and it lasts a good few days on me considering how long most nail vanishes last.

Lastly through June I have been loving my Polaroid camera which I got for my birthday this year, it is so handy to have to capture special moments and keep them forever. I love the look of the print outs and they look great stuck to the wall. I also got my Harry Potter notebook for my birthday and I love the official school look of the book. It makes me feel like I have actually been to the school so I feel important when I use it, you may call me sad... I use this as my blogging book and its full of so many post ideas!

Battle of the hand creams

Hello Lovelies!

Today I am bringing you a 'battle off' of my favourite and least favourite hand creams. Some I have bought myself while others I have got in monthly Birchboxes (*) so have a read and if you have tried any of the hand creams, let me know your thoughts on them. For each hand cream I've broke them down into three categories that I'll talk about (smell, feel, work?) and then I've rated them all out of 5. So lets get started!

Soap and Glory's Hand Food

Smell - this hand cream isn't the best smelling hand cream unlike the rest of the soap and glory range which smells amazing, but it still isn't an unpleasant smell.

Feel - it is quite greasy so I wouldn't put it on just before you need to actually use your hands as you wont be able to open a bottle of water straight after.

Work? - it is a good hand cream and does leave your hands feeling smooth after.

3/5

Nivea smooth nourishing hand cream

Smell - this cream smells a lot like holiday to me as it reminds me of sun tan lotion and pool water, which makes me happy and makes me feel like I'm on holiday (and makes me want to go on holiday even more!)

Feel - this has a thick consistency which applies really well and a little goes a long way.

Work? - this leaves my hands feeling super smooth and nourished for a long time after I've applied it.

5/5

Lavera hand cream* (Organic)

Smell - this hand cream smells very fruity and citrus(y) which can really wake you up if you use it first thing in the morning.

Feel - this cream has a very thin consistency so it is easy to spread it around your hands and as you start to rub it into your skin and work it in, the scent does come out more.

Work? - this is a good hand cream and does a good job of keeping my hands soft.

3/5

Molton brown replenishing hand cream*

Smell - this again smells very fruity and citrus(y) like the Lavera hand cream.

Feel - this has a thick consistency and feels very luxurious on your hands.

Work? - this hand cream leaves my hand feeling really soft for a good while.

4/5

I think its obvious who the clear winner is in this battle, I continuously use the Nivea hand cream every day and keep it in my bag so that I can top up my hands when they are starting to feel dry. The tube that it comes in is a good size so it has lasted me ages and I still have so much left to use, it is just an all round winner for me.

Have you guys used any of these creams? Which is your favourite? :)
