I have needed a beauty shake up for a long while now so over this month I have collected a few new beauties to add to my stash.
First up are two foundations which I have been a fan of for a long time now right from when I first started wearing makeup. I have wrote a few blog posts about Rimmel foundations over the years and I had used up all my bottles in the past and hadn't repurchased any in a while. The current foundations in my collections just weren't doing it for my this past month so I used the Rimmel 2for12 pound -my pound sign on my laptop isn't working :(- promotion and picked up formulas I know work for me. The Lasting Finish 25 hour and the Match Perfection foundations are both easy to wear, blendable long wearing foundations which I know no matter what my face is doing on the day, this foundation will work. I'll keep you updated gals!
I've also picked up the Nyx Tame and Frame tinted brow pomade in Brunette to try since I think it is time I joined the pomade hype. Late to the game I know but I have never really been too fuzzed about brows since I'v had big boys for years, but lately they seem to look a little more sparse then normal so I think I need some help. I haven't tried it yet so I can't give you my opinion on it, lets just hope the the colour works for me!
I thought it was about time I started looking after my skin now I am 24 this year so I picked up the Clinique Pep Start Eye Cream to try and see if I like it. Whether or not I will remember to use it every day I don't know but I'm excited to give it a whirl.
Lastly I was given the Urban Decay Naked Flush palette from a friend for Christmas and I've been so busy this month I haven't actually took it out of the box yet... I'm sorry. I am really going to focus working this into my daily routine and see how I get on with it. I love Urban Decay's eye shade palettes so I know I will like the blush and contour shades, I just need to see if the shades work for me!

Following on from my post about some of my favourites Tanya Burr products from her previous collections I have collected all her lip products that I currently own to take you through the good and the great (no duds so far thank god)
In my collection I have two lip glosses and three matte liquid lipsticks which are definitely my favourite out of the two. The first lip gloss I have is a mini 5ml of her Afternoon Tea shade which I am pretty sure I got in one of her gift set boxes which is why it's a mini. It is a great natural shade which you can wear with any makeup look and I like to wear this more on no makeup days when my lips need something to protect them from the elements outside but it would feel OTT to wear any lip colour. Its a great little piece to throw in your bag because it is such a good size and if I ever need to refresh my makeup on the go I have this to hand.
My second lip gloss is a full sized 7.5ml of Lunch Date which was the first lip product from Tanya Burr that I tried. Compared to Afternoon Tea this shade is a less shinny nude which is really natural and great for the day time. Out of the two of the shades I tend to reach for Lunch Date more often just because it has that hint of nude in it and you all know how much I love anything nude.
Bottom to Top: Afternoon Tea, Santa's Little Helper, Blackberry Fudge, Lunch Date & Martha Moo |
Now onto the big boys... the matte lipsticks!!
I have a lot of matte liquid lipsticks in my makeup collection and I reach for the Tanya Burr formulas as often as I reach for my all time favourites Nyx soft matte lip creams so they get a gold star from me. Starting off with Martha Moo - the formula of this shade is sooooo good, with liquid lipsticks you need something that packs a lot of colour and the Tanya Burr formulas definitely do. Martha Moo is a rich nude shade which you can see in the swatches applies really evenly. Once it has dried down I find the formula last hours on my lips and just needs to be re applied when I have eaten. My only disappointment with the product is the packaging because the applicator is huge and makes it hard to apply the lipstick without lining my lips before hand.
The last two matte liquid lipsticks I received as a Christmas presents in the Sweet Lip Creams Christmas Set. It included two lip sticks in the shades Santa Little Helper and Blackberry Fudge which are both perfect shades for autumn winter time and Christmas. Like Martha Moo they are both super pigmented and once dried are really bold colours. Their staying power is impressive for such bright colours and only need to be reapplied once I've eaten. I wore Santa's Little Helper all over Christmas and New years because it is such a festive red. I don't have many dark purple shades in my collection so Blackberry Fudge is a welcome addition. They are both 5ml minis so once I have used them up I hope she will come out with more matte lip sticks in similar shades.
I am looking to expand my collection of Tanya Burr lip products since I have been really impressed with all the products I have purchased so far. I usually wait until a new collection is released because I know Tanya will post a make up tutorial using the products and I usually pick my favourites from her videos before I go out and buy them. If you haven't tried any of Tanya's products then get on her website and shop shop shop!
The brand Sukin is a relatively new skincare brand to me having only heard its name in the last few months. It felt like one day it wasn't anywhere to be seen and the next day it was in every Boots, Superdrugs and TKMax of all places?! The whole range is massive as I have found out after researching it and there are so many products that I do want to try out. So far I have four products in my collection and all of them have pleasantly surprised me. I would class this brand as a drugstore budget brand which as your get further into the range can increase in price but the ratio between price and size of product is so much better than other brands. This is one thing I have found with Sukin products which I am really impressive with. All the products also claim to be natural and paraben free with isn't something I care too much about at this moment in time but I am beginning to care more about.
Foaming Facial Cleanser Link
This was the product that first introduced me to the brand. I was looking for a facial cleanser to use with my manual cleansing brush that I had previously bought. I had no idea what product or brand to try out and I suddenly noticed all these products in a quite natural and expensive looking packaging, like any girl I like packaging. I use this product by pumping a small amount of product onto my wet cleansing brush and then brushing the product over my wet face. It leaves my skin feeling squeaky clean and fresh so I have been reaching for this product nearly everyday after first use. I have other cleansers which I feel leave some residue on my skin after applying but with this product my face has never felt so clean. I normally use this as a double cleanse after I have used a miscellar cleansing water to remove my makeup. I really like that my skincare and makeup applies much more easily after I have used this cleanser.
Hydrating Mist Toner Link
I wasn't the biggest fan of this product when I first purchased it as it isn't like any other toner I have used. I have the Lush Eau Roma Water toner in my collection which is my holy grain toner product. I spray two pumps of the product onto a cotton pad and wipe the product over my skin and it leaves my skin fresh and clean. I tried that with this toner and it felt like I was ripping a dry flannel over my skin! This is how I have always used a toner so it baffled me why it didn't work as well as my other toners. I stopped using it for a while until one day I decide just to spray the toner directly onto my skin and pat the product in. I have no idea if this is the right way to use the product and I don't even know if it does anything for my skin but I do like using it this way and I feel like my skin likes it. I split my use of this product with my Lush toner as tbh I prefer applying the Lush toner but I do enjoy using this toner and I hope it is doing something for my skin.
Facial Moisturiser Link
Moisturisers are something I struggle with so I normally stick to the same two moisturisers but I decided to branch out and try the Sukin's versions since I liked the facial cleanser so much. I have been using this moisturiser daily since I purchased it and I really like how light weight the product is as I hate using thick moisturisers especially when I have to apply makeup. Although the product is lightweight it does really moisturise (i'm sick of that word already) my skin and make it feel nourished. I do have days when I want to slather my skin in my Origins GinZing moisturiser when I am having a bad skin day but on a day to day basis I really like using this product. I also like that it has a pump as sticking my fingers in a pot can be so unhygienic.
Moisture Restoring Night Cream Link
Lastly I picked up the moisture restoring night cream to complete my collection and see if using the full range of the collection would benefit my skin. I was lacking in a night cream before I bought this product and I was a little naughty and just used a normal cream at night... I now understand the importance of a heavy duty night cream while I sleep. I have been slathering this moisturiser on my face most nights before I get into bed and finding my skin feeling so smooth in the morning. One morning after using it I couldn't even pluck my eyebrows because my skin was still so smooth I couldn't grab the hairs! Luckily the product hasn't broken me out which I was worried about since the moisturiser is so rich. The product reminds me of jelly because every time I go to use some, it looks like it hasn't even been touched even though I prodded my finger in it the night before.
Have you tried any of the Sukin products? Do you have any recomendations?
My next product on my wish list is one of the facial oils!
TIP All the products are currently on offer!
