Moisturiser Round Up of 2018

Moisturiser Round Up of 2018

Moisturisers are like gold dust in a skincare routine especially for people with dry skin like me. A moisturiser is the most important step in my skincare and i find a good moisturiser can make or break a makeup look.

My skin type is dry which has bouts of normal happy skin and bouts of severly dry patches. My skincare routine consists of using a moisturiser every morning and if i remember, in the evening too. I've collected all the moisturisers I've used over the last year and ranked them from favourite to least favourite, even though i still like some of the products at the bottom of the list.

1. Clinique Moisture Surge

Starting off with my all time favourite moisturiser which i first spoke about back in March 2017 in a wishlist post. So many people spoke about how hydrating this product was and how it made people feel like they had just experienced a facial. I agree with every statement ever made about this product and i am gladly on my second tub now since i was given a gift set this Christmas with a new tub included. The product is super hydrating, leaves the skin super soft, gives a boost of life to your skin and lasts all day on the skin. I like products that make a big difference on my skin and after a long day, i can still feel the benefits of this moisturiser on my skin. The product is rich without feeling heavy and clogging on the skin which means it doesn't break me out after using it. Lastly you only need a small amount of product to make a big difference so the tub lasts ages, my first tub lasted me from April to December and i used it every single day.

2. Origins Gin Zing Moisturizer

Now this was my favourite moisturizer for a very long time and even when i first started using the Clinique Moisture Surge, i still went between the two when we came to choosing my favourite. Just like the Clinique Moisturiser this product is so hydrating for dry skin it leaves your skin feeling brand new, as soft as a babies bum. Also the Gin Zing ingredients make the product super relaxing, hydrating and soothing on the skin. It somehow always seems to feel cold on the skin so every time you use the product it really wakes up your skin. I really liked using this product on really bad skin days because it wouldn't irritate my bad skin and it give my skin a big boost, it left me feeling like my skin was glowing when it was at its worse.

3. Lush Gorgeous Moisturiser

Although i only tried a tester of this moisturiser back in January, the product is still on my mind. A lot of people raved about this moisturiser so i ended up getting a little sample pot and i couldn't be how much i liked it. The product was really rich and luxurious on the skin and took a while to completely sink into the skin which normally i don't like but i found this moisturiser worked as a great base for my makeup. I didn't need to use a primer afterwards and the product helped make my makeup last longer. The only thing that has stopped me repurchasing this moisturiser is the price. £42 for a moisturiser from Lush seems ridiculous especially when my origins and Clinique moisturiser cost around £25 each and they are bigger brands.

4. Sukin Facial Moisturiser

Sukin skincare is a brand which I only started trying out last year and I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the products. They advertise themselves as natural, cruelty free, vegan and carbon free skincare which doesn't cost a bomb. This moisturiser was a firm favourite of mine when i first purchased the range, opting to use this moisturizer during the day underneath my makeup. What i liked about this product is that it is a bog standard good moisturizer with no nastiest in. It worked at moisturizing my skin without breaking me out or making my pigmentation standout.

5. Clinique Dramatically Different

If you have been around for a while then you will remember when every skincare post of mine included this moisturiser. It was y holy grail for a very long time and even though i haven't repurchased it in a few years since trying out different products, i know if i needed to go out and purchase a new moisturiser this product would be on my list. I've tried this product in a few formulas and packing but my favourite is the cream formula in the pot. The product has a thick consistency which soaks into the skin and leaves it feeling so smooth. This used to sort my skin out on bad skin days when my dry patches were at their worth in my early 20s.

6. Clinique Super Defense Night

This is another product that i had in my collection a long while ago while i recently used again when it came in a free promotion from Clinique. From what i can remember about this product when i first used it was it was quite greasy and slippery but the small pot i received of the product was so much better. It obviously had been reformulated and i'm not complaining at all. I found it was really good for wearing underneath my makeup and helping me start with a even base, don't hate me for not using it as a night cream... I wasn't too keen to use the product at first when i received it but when i ran out of moisturisers it was my only option and i ended up falling in love. The consistency of the product is quite thick but easy enough to sink into the skin in good time.

7. Sukin Moisturizing Restoring Night Cream

This product is what i call a magic product because it doesn't matter how much product you scoop out the tub, the product never seems to go down. It looks perfectly untouched every time i go to use it. This is the only night cream i use at the minute and there isn't much to say about the product apart from it is a good night cream. I pair it with the Clinique All About the Eyes cream before i go to bed and in the morning my skin feels like a babies bottom.

8. Clinique Prep Start Moisturiser

I brought this product because of a recommendation of a shop assistant in Bicester Village as she said it was amazing underneath makeup which i agree with, the product works great as a primer but it doesn't feel amazing as a moisturizer. It feels more like a matte primer then a moisturiser so i tend to use it as a primer using the summer when i don't need a lot of moisture added to my skin.

9. Glossier Priming Moisturiser

I won't say much about this product because i don't have many good things to say about it. It is advertised as a priming moisturizer but i don't feel like it moisturizes my skin at all and the primer element i don't rate as well. I know a lot of people who claim to love this product so it is definitely all down to different skincare preferences. I love every other Glossier product i have tried but i just don't rate this product at all.

What are your opinions on the products ive mentioned? Skincare is definitely something that works differently for different people so if you have liked something that i haven't or vice versa, no worries i'm glad it works for you!

Summer Skincare Saviours

This summer I am on a mission to have banging skin and so far, the skin gods have been nice to me. I have very dry skin as I have told you all before so I get flare ups of dry skin in both the cold and the heat so I'm quite unlucky. I have a bunch of products that are really working with my skin in this heat wave we are currently having so I thought I'd share them with you.

Summer Skincare Saviours

F A C E
For my face I am currently loving a simple skincare routine of three products, which all have pastel pink packaging which pleases me greatly. First up I have my Loreal Fine Flowers Gel Crea Wash in Rose and Jasmine which sadly doesn't smell as amazing as you would think from the name. I really like this cleaner in the mornings because it doesn't stripe my skin or dry it out after ward but it still leaves my skin clean and clear for my next products.

Once I have washed my face I use the Glossier Super Bounce serum which has really mad me feel in love with these types of products. I have never used a serum before this and now I want to try every product going. I used to think that serums would clog my skin and make me feel like I have too many layers on my face but this serum just sinks into my skin and leaves it with this super dewy moisturised glow.

When I then layer on top my Clinique Moisture surge moisturizer then I am living my best life and have no dry patches in sight. I know a lot of people use this moisturizer for long haul flights and travelling because it is so luxurious on the skin and that is what first attracted my to this product. I am at the stage now where I am scrapping the bottom of the tub to get any product out so I will definitely need to repurchase this soon!

On the days when it is just too hot to even think about putting any makeup on I like to use face mists and sprays to give me a little glow, keep me refreshed and to stop a sun burn. I love using the Newlook refresh and prep spray which I are only £4.99 and you can use them on days when you aren't wearing makeup to refresh your skin and underneath your makeup to prime your skin. Sometimes you just need a little spritz of something to cool you down and this spray is perfect for that.

B O D Y
Once my face is all ready for the sun its time to sort my body out! I have a lot of shower gels and creams in my bathroom because I always get them for birthdays and Christmas so I have a lot to choose from but my favourite have to be the Lush shower gels. I am currently using Snow Fairy which is my second bottle now and I love the smell of it. It is great to use in the summer because it is a time when you have more or your flesh out so you want your skin to smell nice. Plus you tend to sweat more so when I shower I like to use something that has a really powerful smell so that I feel more clean afterwards. If I use a shower products with no smell I don't feel that clean afterwards, anyone agree?

I also need to show some love to my feet during this time of year because I suffer from the worst dry feet in the world. Sad but true. So I like to use the Soap and Glory Heel Genius foot cream most nights before I go bed so that I can wake up with some what softer feet. The tub is huge I think so I know it will last me for a long time and I like to keep this on my night stand to remind myself to use it. I'll be honest... I don't always remember and then I really regret it the next day when I have to get my feet out.

Lastly we have hair but not hair on your head, no hair removal. Not a lot of people talk about hair removal because it is not a glamours topic but we all suffer from it and if any of you are dark haired like me then you will know the constant struggle!

Starting with the typical hair removal I still, after how many years now, use Lush's D'Fluff strawberry shaving cream to shave my armpits and legs. During the summer I tend to shave my legs and armpits every couple of days because I like to feel comfortable and free when it is hot. This can be quite grooling on your skin but with this shaving cream, i have never hurt myself or caused a rash and my skin is always smooth and soft afterwards. Plus a tub lasts me so long considering I used this product up to 3 times a week so it clear how much I love this.

For the more unconventional hair removal, I like to use Veet sensitive hair removal cream and I have been using this since my teens. Having dark hair and Italian heritage I have dark hairs allllll over my body which used to really get me down but now I've learned to get over it. Some of the places I use Veet cream is mainly around my belly button and on my chest. As embarrassing as it is to say... we are all girls here. The cream is really easy to use, the process is quick and it doesn't leave me any red patches or rashes after wards so I can go out straight afterwards. Please tell me I'm not the only one???

Once I have sorted out my unwanted hair I am set to put on my dress, get my legs, arms and chest out and catch that sun.

Do you have any tips or tricks to get your skin really for summer?

Winter Pamper Routine 2018

Winter Pamper Routine 2018

After a long day at work nothing makes me feel more relaxed or refreshed like a good old pamper evening, usually by myself because I am a introvert and like to spend quality time with myself. I've needed multiply pamper evenings over the last few weeks because it hasn't been the easiest start to the year but they are never disappointing.

Like I have just said I like to be alone when I have a pamper evening/day/weekend depending on how much I need to relax and I live with my partner so I normally see Cal for an hour or so chit chatting while we are making dinner and then I leave him to it to go and begin my routine.

The first thing I do to relax is run a boiling hot bubble bath and shove loads of different products into it. Depending on whether I need to wash my hair while I am in the bath I either opt for a Lush Bath bomb or one of my Molton Brown Bubble baths, both my all time favourites. If I don't need to wash my hair I chuck a multicolored bath bomb in the bath and just watching the colours change relaxes me. If I do need to wash my hair I pour in one of two Molton Brown Bubble Baths which are Mesmerising Oudh Accord & Gold or Vintage With Elderflower which both leave the water sparkling and smelling gorgeous. I received so many bottles of Molton Brown for Christmas that I am slowly working my way through them all but these two bubbles baths are the stand out heroes so far. I also received loads of Lush but that is coming in another post!

Once my bath is ready I like to rest my ipad in the wooden holder I got for Christmas from my sister (mega sister points for that gift!), light all the candles in my bathroom, make a glass of wine or in this case fresh orange juice and watch a good film or a couple of episodes of a series on Netflix. I am currently obsessed with Friends because I am a basic 90s girl so you can usually find me glued to the screen because I love it so much. I've written a few posts about what I watch on Netflix so go on over and have a gander for something to watch! I am planning to posting a new one soon since so much has been added to Netflix recently and I have watched so many good things. ( 6 Netflix Docs You Need To Watch and Top Picks On Netflix)

Once my episode has finished or I have started to go wrinkly I get out of the bath and smoother my skin in the Lush Sleepy Body Lotion and the name of this lotion is perfect because the smell of this product makes me want to go sleep. If I have a late bath and then cover my skin in the Sleepy Lotion that is my night over, as soon as my body touches my bed I'm gone. Its great to use if I really need an early night. I also have started using a hand cream every night before I go bed even though it doesn't happen every night but I am trying. I currently have the Lush Love and Light hand cream tub beside my bed to remind me. I am finding this winter when I do remember my skin is so thankful for it later on!

Now once I have bathed and cover my whole body in the good stuff I reach for a new pair of cute pj's to put on and complete the' born again' feeling. Having a bath and then putting on dirty pj's is like bathing in dirty water, not worth it! I normally reach for my coziest pair of clean pj's and give myself a pat on the back for keeping up on the dirty bin!

Depending on what kind of day it has been and how much energy I have I like to do a face mask if I feel like my face needs one. I have fallen a little out of love with face masks recently so I only have one which I reach for when I really need  a pick me up. That is the Origin Original Skin Re Texturizing Mask with Rose Clay, one that is mentioned regularly on the blog. I like this mask because it is easy to use, doesn't make a mess and the results are easy to see straight away. Luckily my skin hasn't needed this mask much recently so I am hoping my skin have found a right balance for now.

Once my skin has been taken care of I go and see Cal for a little cuddle and then it is bed and book time for me to relax my mind. When I have a lot of things going on in my mind or I have been running around a lot for work I really need some reading time. I am a huge book worm and am currently reading Origin by Dan Brown who is one of my favourite authors. I love reading about religion, science and murder and so far this book isn't disappointing. I have all of Dan Browns previous books and I like to read them because they imaginative and they take me away from my life and what is happening around me. Usually after an hour or two of reading i am whipped out and ready for bed and I usually sleep like a baby after one of these evenings.

I hope you have enjoyed learning about my current pamper nights. Writing this has made me really one a pamper night tonight and Sundays are the perfect night for these!

Delving into Sukin Skincare

Delving into Sukin Skincare

The brand Sukin is a relatively new skincare brand to me having only heard its name in the last few months.  It felt like one day it wasn't anywhere to be seen and the next day it was in every Boots, Superdrugs and TKMax of all places?! The whole range is massive as I have found out after researching it and there are so many products that I do want to try out. So far I have four products in my collection and all of them have pleasantly surprised me. I would class this brand as a drugstore budget brand which as your get further into the range can increase in price but the ratio between price and size of product is so much better than other brands. This is one thing I have found with Sukin products which I am really impressive with. All the products also claim to be natural and paraben free with isn't something I care too much about at this moment in time but I am beginning to care more about.

Foaming Facial Cleanser Link
This was the product that first introduced me to the brand. I was looking for a facial cleanser to use with my manual cleansing brush that I had previously bought. I had no idea what product or brand to try out and I suddenly noticed all these products in a quite natural and expensive looking packaging, like any girl I like packaging. I use this product by pumping a small amount of product onto my wet cleansing brush and then brushing the product over my wet face. It leaves my skin feeling squeaky clean and fresh so I have been reaching for this product nearly everyday after first use. I have other cleansers which I feel leave some residue on my skin after applying but with this product my face has never felt so clean. I normally use this as a double cleanse after I have used a miscellar cleansing water to remove my makeup. I really like that my skincare and makeup applies much more easily after I have used this cleanser.

Hydrating Mist Toner Link
I wasn't the biggest fan of this product when I first purchased it as it isn't like any other toner I have used. I have the Lush Eau Roma Water toner in my collection which is my holy grain toner product. I spray two pumps of the product onto a cotton pad and wipe the product over my skin and it leaves my skin fresh and clean. I tried that with this toner and it felt like I was ripping a dry flannel over my skin! This is how I have always used a toner so it baffled me why it didn't work as well as my other toners. I stopped using it for a while until one day I decide just to spray the toner directly onto my skin and pat the product in. I have no idea if this is the right way to use the product and I don't even know if it does anything for my skin but I do like using it this way and I feel like my skin likes it. I split my use of this product with my Lush toner as tbh I prefer applying the Lush toner but I do enjoy using this toner and I hope it is doing something for my skin.

Facial Moisturiser Link
Moisturisers are something I struggle with so I normally stick to the same two moisturisers but I decided to branch out and try the Sukin's versions since I liked the facial cleanser so much. I have been using this moisturiser daily since I purchased it and I really like how light weight the product is as I hate using thick moisturisers especially when I have to apply makeup. Although the product is lightweight it does really moisturise (i'm sick of that word already) my skin and make it feel nourished. I do have days when I want to slather my skin in my Origins GinZing moisturiser when I am having a bad skin day but on a day to day basis I really like using this product. I also like that it has a pump as sticking my fingers in a pot can be so unhygienic.

Moisture Restoring Night Cream Link
Lastly I picked up the moisture restoring night cream to complete my collection and see if using the full range of the collection would benefit my skin. I was lacking in a night cream before I bought this product and I was a little naughty and just used a normal cream at night... I now understand the importance of a heavy duty night cream while I sleep. I have been slathering this moisturiser on my face most nights before I get into bed and finding my skin feeling so smooth in the morning. One morning after using it I couldn't even pluck my eyebrows because my skin was still so smooth I couldn't grab the hairs! Luckily the product hasn't broken me out which I was worried about since the moisturiser is so rich. The product reminds me of jelly because every time I go to use some, it looks like it hasn't even been touched even though I prodded my finger in it the night before.

Have you tried any of the Sukin products? Do you have any recomendations?
My next product on my wish list is one of the facial oils!
TIP All the products are currently on offer!

November Clothing and Skincare Haul

November Clothing and Skincare HaulChristmas is coming thick and fast now it feels and while I've been gallivanting around looking for Christmas presents I may have purchased a few presents for myself too... If you can't treat yourself who will hey?!

Starting with the skincare I have been on the hunt for some new skincare products to change up my routine because my currently not very friendly and my old routine wasn't working. I decided to take it back basic and re purchase some of my old favourites which served me well before hand. First of all I re purchased the Lush Ultrabland Cleanser which I used to live on back in 2015. I went through about three tubs of the cleanser at the time and at the time my skin loved it and definitely was in better condition than what it is in now, but then I ran out of my last tub and decided to branch out and try other cleansers like the Clinique Take The Day Off balm. I still have that balm in my collection but I still love but I tend not to reach for it on a daily basis because it irritates my eyes whereas the Lush cleanser doesn't irritate me at all. Hopefully this product can help calm down my skin and I will definitely let you know how I get on with it!

Next I have a moisturiser which again I used to love back in 2016 which is the Origins Gin Zing Ultra Hydrating Moisturiser. This used to make my skin feel so amazing and when I was having partially dry patches this moisturiser sorted them right out.  I stopped using this again when I ran out of the tub and since I normally buy it from Bicester Village because it is cheaper than buying it store, it wasn't worth a trip just to pick one tub up so I tried other products. I was using the Sukin Moisturiser but I feel like while my skin is this irritated I need something that I know works well and my skin likes.

On to clothing I picked up this super cute pearl top (similar) from Zara in Oxford a few days ago and I am in love. I love the safisicated but simple look of the pearls on black and think it will look super cute tucked into a high waist skirt and black tights for winter. I already have a jumper exactly the same but with longer sleeves so I know I'll get a lot of wear out of this.

I also bought two new jumpers from Newlook which are so flattering I have been throwing them on most days. They are just a simple long length design which covers my bum which is my favourite thing about them. Most jumpers now are cropped in some way and even though I love a good crop on some things... I welcome long body items into my wardrobe too! I have the jumper in burgandy and cream and love pairing them with ripped blue jeans and boots.

Lastly I have two new pairs of jeans to share with you, yes two blue pairs of ripped jeans. My excuse was I really need blue jeans... I have loads of black but not any blue jeans apart from one pair which I am absolute in love with but they have rips all over the bum. I have been on a hunt for these jeans again everywhere and couldn't find any! Then I tried these blue high waist hallie jeans from Newlook and I didn't hate them so I bought them thinking I would never find my jeans. The next day in Oxford I found the ripped blue skinny jeans I wanted AND they were in petit -dream come true! I had already wore the first pair of jeans so now I have two pairs of blue jeans but don't be mistaken, they are very different! One in a thin comfy material and the other is a thicker high waist style.

Hair Removal Is A Bitch

Hot dog or legs?

One thing I hate about being a girl is body hair. Why do we even have it?!

I have a constant struggle with maintaining my body hair because I am just too lazy... Having dark hair isn't your best friend when it comes to stuff like this.

I do have some products that make hair removal 10 times easier, if only they could get rid of the problem all together...

For my arm pits and my legs I use my all time favourite hair removal product which is the Lush D'Fluff Strawberry Shaving Soap. Bloody love this product. As I have said I am very lazy when it comes to most up keeping so using this product makes shaving my legs and armpits super easy. All you do is smother this all over the area you are shaving while in the shower like a body wash and do your thing. My skin can become iriated very easily especially with shaving but this soap leaves me skin super soft and smooth. 10/10 from me!

Now for my bikini area I do the worst thing imaginable... I dry shave. Alot of my friends pull faces when I tell them but I have done this since I was 14/15, it is what I am used to and to be completely honest the damage is done now. I have tried using the Lush Soap on my bikini in the shower but my skin didn't like that one bit. Any who I use the Braun Silk Epil Rasor to tidy up my bikini line and it does a pretty good job. The rasor is pretty hard core my first rasor lasted me until this year so it lasts a long time considering how much use it gets.

Lastly for the parts of the body which are not meant to have hair but really annoyingly they do, I have used the Veet Sensitive Skin Hair Removal Cream since I was little teen and it has always been a safe bet. You just rub the cream onto the area, leave for a few minutes and then scrap it off with the scraper that comes in the box. Sounds painful but it really isn't!

For the face I also have the Nair Argan Oil Facial Brush On Sensitive Hair Removal which is the easiest way to remove the super annoying hair above my lip. I brush the cream on for no more than 2 minutes and all the hair is gone. This cream doesn't always get every hair and sometimes it does leave a patch but it is much better than ripping the skin off your lip every time you wax.

I think its about time we opened up about our hair grooming habits as I hardly ever see any posts about it. Let me know what you use to remove your annoying hair and any recommendations for bikini and face hair removal is appreciated!

5 Bath Products Good Enough To Eat This Spring

3 Bath Products Good Enough To Eat This Spring
This spring I am mixing up my body skincare collection with a few new editions and a few re purchases.

One of my favourite smelling bath products during most of the year but definitely during the warmer months to is the Lush The Comforter Shower Cream which is one of the best products I have ever smelt. This shower cream can be used as a shower cream and can be used to make amazing smelling bubbles for the bath. I am currently on my third bottle of this stuff and I can't get enough of it. It smells like the Calpol you had when you were a child which is what attracted me to it in the first place. I used to enjoy taking Calpol when I was ill so I have to be really strong and not eat it!

Another shower cream which smells amazing is the Treaclemoon Vanilla Bath and Shower Gel which smells of vanilla cheesecake, could it get any better? This product is so inexpensive currently at £2 and you get such a large bottle it is basically a steal. This bottle has lasted me so long already and I usually either use this as a shower gel or as bubble bath. It creates so many bubbles which smell amazing.

A body butter which smells like summer in a tub is the Bodyshop Papaya Body Butter. This body butter is super rich and smooth so it leaves the skin feeling like a new born baby. You also get a lot of product in the tub which makes it worth the money. It smells like a mix between cream and fruit so just imagine a very Instagram worthy breakfast bowl and you've hit the nail on the head.

Another Lush product which smells like heaven is the Snow Fairy Shower Gel. Again I can use this in my bath to create bubbles and it leaves my skin smelling amazing just like their Bubble Gum lip scrub. I totally forgot how much I loved the smell of bubble gum until I started collecting the Lush scented products and now I can't get enough of it. Lush can' go wrong with their scents in my opinion.

The Soap and Glory Sugar Crush Body Wash has been a staple in my bathroom since I was a teenager and still today I love to go back to it. I have never had a bad product from Soap and Glory so I know I can pick up any product and like it without reading reviews. This wash smells of citrus fruits but times a 100 and it leaves my body super smooth and the smell lingers on my skin all morning. It is also the best thing to use first thing in the morning to wake you up.

If you have any recommendations for amazing smelling products then comment them below!

January Skincare Fix

Current Skincare | January

I have spoken before about how much I love a striped back skincare routine and through January I have had three firm favourites that have helped over haul my skin. Firstly I have been trying out properly the Clinique Take the Day Off Cleansing Balm which I picked up back in November . I have spoke before about how I didn't like it at first as I felt you had to break the first layer of product to really be able to pick up any balm, well I have well and truly broke the seal now and I love this cleanser. I use it in the mornings to wash my face, in the evening to take my makeup off and all over my face except for my eyes. It does say you can use this product on the eyes but having sensitive eyes myself, I find it makes the area quite dry. The cleanser breaks down makeup really easily and leaves my skin feeling super clean. The product is really smooth and nourishing on the skin so my face never feels striped after using it which I can find with some balms. I got into using this product daily at the start of January and I have used it every day since and love it.

After Christmas my skin didn't want to co-operate at all and I had mountain after mountain appear on my chin so I decided to try something new. The L'oreal Pure Clay Masks have been floating around everywhere recently and having a real obsession with masks I wanted to try one of them. I opted for the Charcoal Detox Mask to really clear my skin of all the gunk that had been clogging it. Since purchasing it about 2 weeks ago I have used this mask twice a week and since then, my chin has completely turn around. The spots on my chin were big puss spots which I would pop and then they would reappear. The worst thing about them was that no amount of makeup would cover them which I hated. Since using this mask the spots have become less angry, less puss fill and are slowly going away so it has saved my skin this month.

Current Skincare | January

Lastly I mentioned in my January Favourites post that I don't change up my moisturisers very much but since the start of January I have fell in love with a new moisturiser which I have now sadly ran out of. It is the Lush Gorgeous Moisturiser which I had a little tester pot for from Christmas. Since trying it at the beginning of January I have used it nearly every day since because it is the perfect moisturiser to wear underneath foundation. You don't need a lot of product for it to do its job, it leaves your skin tacky  at first so doubles as a primer for your foundation and if you leave it to sink into the skin, it leaves it feeling really smooth and soft. If I wasn't on a spending ban I would go and repurchase it straight away but sadly since I am, I will have to make my way through my remaining pots first before I can justify buying any more.

Do you have any products you have tried in January you would recommend?

January Favourites | 17

It feels crazy to be writing my January Favourites already when it feels like just yesterday I was writing my yearly favourites for 2016. It is scary how fast the first month of this year has gone by but it excites me so much because that means I can move into my new home sooner! Oh yeah I haven't told you that I have been accepted for a mortgage with Cal for our first home! I am beyond excited but anyway on with favourites.

A friend of mine gave me a sample of the Mac's Prep and Prime Skin Base to try this month and I haven't used anything else since trying it. This has become my favourite ever skin primer and it makes me quite sad that my new favourite product is a £23 primer but it is worth it. It leaves my skin super smooth, super healthy and glistening with sparkles which you might think isn't what you want on a day to day basis but it works. It works more like a moisturiser than a primer which is why it works so good everyday.

It is very hard for me to change up my skincare routine as I am a creature of habit but the Lush Gergous Moisturiser has stolen my heart. This again is a little pot Callum got me for Christmas to try out and it become part of my daily routine. A little goes a long way with this moisturiser so even though it is a tiny pot it has lastly me longer than I would have imagined. It leaves my skin quite tacky which makes it great for wearing under makeup to help it last all day, this moisturiser plus the Mac primer is the perfect combo underneath makeup.

A base product that I have been wearing none stop during January is the Bourjois City Radiance Foundation in Vanilla. At first I wasn't a fan of this foundation but it wasn't until I sprayed my beauty sponge with Newlook Fix Makeup Setting Spray that I really started liking the finish of this foundation. This foundation gives me a lovely healthy glow when I wear it which I have fell in love with, I usually go for matte foundation for everyday but this has changed my opinion of dewy/healthy formulas.  It also lasts all day on my skin while I'm at work so its duration is amazing. I also can't use my beauty blender without spraying it with Newlook's Fix Spray as it gives the best finish with all my favourite foundations.

I have been loving the Revolution Ultra Bronzer this month which has been in my stash for years now but I only fell in love with it recently. First of all the pan is huge, this product is going to last me for even more years. Secondly this shade which annoyingly has no name looks good on any skin tone. I can be tanned or as white as a ghost and the colour still suits me.

I've mentioned the Pippa Palette by Blank Canvas Cosmetics before in a post about it here and it is in my favourites for the month too because I have been wearing it non stop. The palette has everything you need in it including a bronzer, blush, highlight and eye shadows. If you want to know more about it then read my post about it here.

My last make up favourites are the Newlook Matte Velvet Lipstick in the shades Toffee Apple and Heather. I have spoken about these before in my Newlook Makeup Haul post and I still love two months later. They don't dry out my lips at all and the colour lasts all day if I don't eat but if I do, they re-apply non patchy and no crust in sight.

I have three random favourites for the month too and the first are my two new harry potter books that I got for Christmas. I read Fantastic Beast and Where To Find Them first and absolutely loved it, I loved the story, the cover, the characters and surprisingly I loved reading it as a screenplay. Couldn't recommend this book enough. I then read Harry Potter and The Cursed Child and I didn't enjoy it as much as the first seven Harry Potter books to be completely honest. Don't hate me hardcore HP fans but I am just a lover of the old school books.

Lastly I have been obsessed with Gossip Girl since Christmas and am currently starting series three. I used to watch it while I was at school but I can't remember half the stuff that actually happened. I know who Gossip Girl is but I'm enjoying going through it all again.

Lush Products I Got For Christmas

Lush Products I Got For Christmas

My family and friends know me very well and I got a ton of Lush Bath Products for the bath this year so I thought a post was definitely in order. You really can't go wrong with a Lush Bath Bomb or Shower Cream when you are feeling run down.

Floating Island is the only bath oil I got for Christmas and I am interested to try this out. I am pretty sure I have used a bath oil from them before but I don't remember anything special about it so when my skin is needing a pick me up, this bad boy will have its time to shine.

Two Bubble Bars which I am so excited to have in my collection again are the Comforter and Brightside. I owned both of these before and I absolutely loved them for so many reasons. I crumbled a little bit into my bath and the amount of bubbles they produce are amazing. The bars lasted me so long before I was so sad to see them finish. Brightside made my bath a bright pink mess of bubbles and Comforter made my bath look a little bit like bright pee but it was still lovely.

Bath Bombs have to be my favourite products from Lush and I got a 8 bath bombs in total for Christmas which made me a happy bunny indeed. I got two Golden Wonder bath bombs which is very exciting because look at them! What could be better than a gold castle and it smells really citrus-y (yes I have just made up that word). I also got The Experimenter bath bomb with I have used before and loved. It makes your bath a rainbow colour which looks a-m-a-zing! Fizz Banger is a amazing smelling yellow colour which smells like a really sweet apple pie which is one of my favourite deserts. Intergalactic is like Experimenter because it feels your bath with lots of colour but mainly a sparkley blue which I absolutely love, it reminds me of the Frozen bath bomb which is one of my all time favourites. Butter Bear is a super cute white bear which smells like a savory butter cake which smells amazing and really makes me what some cake. Lastly for bath bombs I got Ickle Baby Bot which I have already used, it is a super cute little blue robot which made my bath turn baby blue in colour, I found it didn't do anything apart from change the colour though so glad I used that one first and saved some of my favourites for later.

Lastly I got the Snow Fairy shower gel which smells like heaven to me. Its smells like them candy necklaces that you used to eat when your were a kid but x1000 in impact. I find Lush's shower gels are so amazing for their smell and how amazing they leave my skin. They lather up so well and leave my skin so soft and smelling like a candy shop.

Right now I wish you could add smell to posts so you can all smell how amazing my room smells now from have all the products out of their packaging. I shall link all the products which are still availible on the website, let me know what is your favourite bath bombs and bars.

skincare, brands, favourite, autumn, lush, clinique, origins, products, cleansers, facial wash, face masks, moisturisers, eye cream, list, blogger,

I haven't wrote a skincare post since February and that is just not alright with me. Skincare is my all time favourite kind of products to talk about but I very rarely mix up the products that I use,  once I have a routine that works for me I stick with it so I don't want to talk about the same products over and over again. Today I am going to talk you through three of my favourite skincare brands for work for me. Now everyone's skin is different and different things work for different people so just because these brands work with my skin doesn't mean they will definitely work for you too.

The Fancy Skincare - Clinique
Even though I have called this brand the 'fancy skincare' doesn't mean I have the products just because of the name! My mum used to use this brand when I was younger so I knew of the name and always wanted to try it. I started out with a moisturiser from a discount beauty shop and fell in love with it. Clinique are the only moisturisers I use as they make my skin feel amazing every time I use them and they don't irritate my skin or break me out. I have tried other brands (and the Origins moisturiser is quite good I'll give the brand that) but I always come back to my Clinique moisturisers and always take them away with me because they are so amazing. Some of the products can be expensive so I tend to buy them when I go through duty free or visit Bicester Village so I can save some pennies.

I have ... Dramatically different moisturising lotion, Daily superdefence moisturiser, All about the eyes eye cream.

The Everyday Skincare - Lush
My love affair with Lush started out with the bath bombs and gradually moved onto other products like the skincare. I really like their skincare as I know non of the products are going to irritate my skin or break me out as they only include natural ingredients. I use Lush products on a daily basis as they aren't too expensive and won't break the bank if I need to repurchase them. I have a range of products from Lush from cleaners and face washes to toners and eye creams and all of them I have fallen for as they really works for me. You can tell how much I love the brand with the number of products I have in my skincare collection!

I have ... Enchanting Eye Cream, Eau Roma Toner Water, Ultrabland Facial Cleanser, Kalamazoo Beard and Facial Wash, Ocean Salt Face and Body Scrub, Dark Angels Face and Body Cleanser and lastly Angels on Bare Skin Face and Body Cleanser.

The Pamper Skincare - Origins
I love using Origins skincare for a pamper night product as the masks in their range are so good at refreshing your skin. I tried one mask many moons ago and fell in love with how it left my skin, so tried another one and then it snow balled into to buying a new mask every time I visit Bicester! Origins know how to make a good mask and all their masks make my skin feel cleansed and polished after I use them. You get a generous amount in the packaging too so they can last you for ages which means less money you are having to spend. Again some Origins products can be pricey but they do sell them in discount shops and obviously at duty free. After trying the face masks I moved on to buying a moisturiser from the Gin Zing range which I love as much as my Clinique Moisturiser!

I have ... Original Skin Retexturising rose clay mask, GinZing Refreshing Face Mask, Out Of Trouble 10 Minute Mask and Drink Up 10 Minute Mask.

Bath Time With Lush

lush, bath, products, skincare, soap and glory, the comforter, rub rub rub, d'fluff, bubble bar,

I love a good bubble bath after a long busy day and at the minute I am thankful to Lush for keeping me happy and relaxed with their products. My current bubble bar that I am working my way through is the Brightside Bubble Bar which turns my bath into a bright orange juice coloured mess, which I am loving and finding so relaxing to sit in. Plus it adds a bit of magic to my bath. To wash my skin I am loving using my Comforter Shower Cream which is also a favourite of Cal's too. Whenever he is round he uses it in the shower and I'm sure that's where most of it has gone! The smell is so yummy and a little goes a long way! It remind us both of Calpol which we both used to take as kids. It is really refreshing when I am feeling really groggy and helps wake me up in the morning. Plus it is bright pink which I love.

To scrub my skin I love using the Rub Rub Rub Shower Scrub from Lush which I got as a present for my Birthday. It is bright blue which obviously I love! It is a really thin consistency so it is super easy to spread around your body and I can really feel it working on my dry areas of skin. You don't need a lot of product to work your whole body till it is super soft. Lastly the only product I use to shave my body is the D'Fluff Strawberry Shaving Cream which has been a holy grail product for me for years now. I have spoke about this loads of times before so you're probably sick of it but I certainly aren't! This product makes shaving my body so easy and so smooth. I haven't cut myself once while using this and it leaves my skin so silky smooth. I always get people to touch my legs after I've shaved using this and I mean, I see someone in the street that I know and I get them to touch my legs...

Lush has been a firm favourite of mine for shower and bath products for years now, sometimes I mix my products up and add a few extra other products into the equation to make a change but I always end up coming back to these products. I am planning on doing a similar post all about my Soap and Glory products that I also love using during bath time. If there are any products you think I should try comment them below!

3 Step Skincare - Barcelona Edition

Travel Skincare Barcelona Clinqiue Lush

I only recently posted about my travel skincare routine in February and I already have another post for you, this one is slightly different as this is my Barcelona edition. Obviously when you go abroad you can't take a lot of products with you because of baggage allowance, plus I don't spend a lot of time in the room on holiday so I don't want to spend ages pampering myself.

The first product I used everyday is the Lush Ultrabland Cleanser to remove my makeup and the cleanse my face first thing in the morning. This product is great to quickly and thoroughly clean your face and get all the dirt and makeup off. I forgot about this product for a good few months when I turned a little lazy and got obsessed with my miscellar water, but when I was packing for my holiday I couldn't not take it. Since using it I have become obsessed with the product again because it has little gritty particals in that really work the dirty on your skin so you can feel the product picking up the dirt.

After I have took my makeup off I used the Lush Kalamazoo Face and Beard Wash which I have recently become to love. I took it on holiday as it was a good size pot to pack which wasn't going to weigh me down and I have ended up really growing to love it. I never used to feel like it did much to my skin before but since using it on holiday, I really see and feel a difference in my skin when I don't use it. It leaves my skin really soft before I've even used any moisturiser.

Lastly to put moisture back into my skin before I apply my makeup, I used my all time favourite moisturiser which I finally got back in my life, the Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising lotion. This has been my holly grail for a few years now and I finally have a bottle of it rather than a tub which I am very happy about! I have mentioned this moisturiser a lot of times on this blog so I won't blabber on too much about it but it is the best moisturiser I have ever used as it leaves my skin hydrated all day.

And that is my simple no fuss skincare steps, have you tried any of the products?

Photo Diary | January-Febuary

photo, diary, January, February, five guys, lush, lobdon, TGI fridays, ice bar, homemade burger co,
I thought it was about time I had a little catch up/what I've been doing these past two months post with you all, so here is a little snippet into what I have been doing since the new year began!

  1. These are the flowers Cal got me for Valentines day. We don't celebrate valentines day really all we usually get each other is a card but he got some flowers delivered to me as a little surprise which was really cute.
  2. For valentines day we just drove to Peterborough for the day and had lunch at the Homemade Burger Co which do the best burgers ever!! If you have a Franks near you then I am telling you they are better than Franks. Plus they serve huge chunky chips.
  3. Me and Cal are trying to eat better and starting this year have vowed to cook for ourself's once a week together since we are rubbish at cooking right now. We both live at home so we can get away with not cooking. One night we made an amazing homemade toad in the hole with mash and carrots and believe me, it was incredible.
  4. I can't do one of these posts without including a face mask selfie! Here I am with my all time favourite Lush mask, the mask of Magnaminty.
  5. This month I had a Five Guys for the very first time, yes I know I am seriously late to the party. I had a strawberry milkshake with my meal and it blew my mind. Hands down one of the best milkshakes I have ever had.
  6. In January I took the plunge to get false nails for the very first time. I just got french tips nothing to fancy but I fell in love with them. I thought I wouldn't be able to do anything for myself in them but after the first day, I was moving trends and changing bars at work and they didn't even get scratched! They lasted about four weeks and I probably should have got them off a week earlier as they were so out grown but I didn't want to get rid of them. They are off now sadly and I decided to give my nails a rest before I get some more at the end of march for a wedding I am going to.
  7. Now another food photo... Cal and I have our own favourite curry house which does the best curries so when I had a weekend off we went out for a little date night there. My curry (which is the best) was a Chicken Tikka Masala (left) and Cal's curry was a Dansakk.
  8. Two friends and I spent a random day in London in January and we done loads! We went to the typical sightseeing places, went to oxford street and went shopping, went to the ice bar on regents street and finally had a late meal at TGI Fridays. We ordered cocktails like true Londoners.
  9. Here is my Ice Bar selfie! The capes weren't too amazing but they kept us warm for sure! You pay £15 to enter the bar for 45 minutes and for a free cocktail. We lasted about half an hour before we got too cold and left to feed our bellies. It is beautiful inside though and worth a look if you are in London.

My Travel Skincare Routine

Travel skincare bag Clinique, lush, garnier, micellar water, origins,
Yes that is me behind the flower in the mirror, say hi to make up free, glass wearing chelsea :)

Considering I have an overly large travel make up bag, my skincare bag is relativity small and all pretty different to my last skincare post. Link Here

I have considerably reduced the number of products I use on my face on a daily basis in the last few months and my skin went through a horrible period over Christmas so I swapped around all my products again in the last month.  This few products are what works best for me at the moment and I have no plans to change it any time soon.

Starting with makeup removal I like to use the Garnier Micellar water as it gets all the dirt and makeup off my face so easily. It works wonders on eye makeup which is something I dread taking off everyday. This product also doesn't dry out my face which is one of the reasons why I love it.

To wash my face I have been using this Spotless Daily blackhead Scrub which I purchase from Wikos at the end of last year. It is really cheap but it has become a really loved product lately, especially when my skin was at its worst. You can use it three different ways; with a lot of water to use it as more of a face wash, with little water to use it as more of a face scrub, or in the middle for a softer scrub. Hope you got that!

A new product to my skincare is the Lush Eau Roma Water (post) which paired with the Blackhead scrub has completely rescued my face. Unlike most other toners it leaves my skin hydrated and refreshed and I think it has been one of the factors in clearing my skin.

I have been loving using the Origins Out Of Trouble face mask lately as a night mask on any lumps, bumps and spots on my skin. It reduces the size of them considerably and the redness surrounding any spots.

My last two products are moisturiser for the eyes and the face. I like to use the Lush Enchanted Eye cream during the day to brighten up my eye area. Then I like to use the Clinique Dramatically Different moisturiser to give my skin extra love during the night and on the days when my skin is extra dry and my toner isn't enough to quench its thrust .

January Loves '16

January Favourites Lush Revolution Sleek Newlook Bodyshop

It is crazy to think that it is the end of January already and I have a few great products to talk to you about today.

Starting with skincare, I have been using the Lush Eau Roma Water Toner no stop since I purchased it this month. I was having a few skin problems at the time when I purchased this and I hoped it would fix my face with its magic and I'm happy to report it actually has. I spray two pumps of this toner onto my hands and then smooth it all over my face. It leaves my skin super soft, moisturised and feeling clean.

Another product I have been using non stop since I purchased it is the Newlook | Pure Contour Palette in the shade Brown Pattern. I saw this palette open on the counter in Newlook and knew the light contour shade would be perfect for me and it was! It is my perfect shade to contour with and has brought the fun back into powder contour. Everyone is commenting on my contour game recently and most people are shocked to know the product in question is by Newlook.

On them days when I'm being really lazy and want a more casual look, I use my trusty Revolution Contour Stick. This is my favourite cream contour shade ever! I have quite a few cream contour sticks in my collection but I always reach for my Revolution stick over all the rest recently!

My next favourite is a new lipstick of mine by the Bodyshop which I have reached for most days since Christmas. This was one of my Christmas presents from my sister and it is a perfect shade for me. I have never owned a Bodyshop lipstick before now and since trying this product, I want to expand my collection. The formulation is so creamy and moisturising on my lips, they leave my lips healthy even when they are having a dry day.

Lastly I have a product which has become a staple in my makeup bag this month. The Lethal Length Mascara by Sleek is great for big individual leashes. This is the only mascara I have been using on a day to day basis this month and if I do go out anywhere fancy or want to make more of an effort, I can up my mascara game but going over my lashes again with the mascara to add even more volume.

New In | Lush and Newlook Pure

New Products Lush and Newlook Pure
So my dry January didn't last very long... I promised myself (and Cal) I wouldn't buy anything this month and I went to London on Tuesday with my friends and we had a little lookie in Lush and Newlook and I found some goodies. Like I always do.

My only justification for any of these products is I had to repurchase the Mask of Magnaminity. I had a little melt down earlier this month when I realised my beloved tub was quite a few months out of date... not that you could tell! It broke my heart to through it away but I thought it was probably the best option. This time I picked up the big sized tub since I go through it quite quickly. It is my favourite ever face mask and leaves my skin so healthy and clean. I have included it in a few blog posts already including my Top 3 Face Masks and my Lush Skincare Collection.

The second mask I purchased was the Rosey Cheeks fresh face mask which I have been hunting for for ages now. Quite a few people spoke about this face mask on YouTube and it was always sold out in my local Lush so I had to get it when I was in London. It is to combat redness on the face and I sure have a lot of redness on my round face. I've used it once already and it left my skin really soft and even.

My last Lush product is the Eau Roma Water Toner Water which I am really interested to try. I used the Tea Tree Toner a few years back and didn't think it was anything special but the woman in store said that this toner is great at putting moisture back into your skin and I sure need that right now.

New Products Lush and Newlook Pure

The first Newlook product I purchased was the Mattifying Primer in their beauty range which had been recommended to me by at least 5 people. When 5 people you know like a certain product it usually means there is something to it. I haven't tried it yet but if it is as good as everyone says it is, you might see it very soon in a favourites post.

Lastly my final product is the Newlook Pure Contour Palette in 29|Brown Pattern which I am really excited to use. All the contour shades are matte which was one of the reasons why I wanted to try this out so badly. The packaging is your basic palette with a huge mirror so that is a plus side. As for the contour product I am yet to use any of it but I am planning on writing a post detailing whether this is worth the £6.99 or not. Keep your eyes peeled!

The Best Of 2015 | Skincare

Skincare has to be without a doubt my favourite subject to talk about. Although I don't experiment with skincare as much I do with make up, I have been trying out new things and growing my collection this year.

My favourite moisturiser of all time has to be the Clinique Dramatically Different Cream. I started a love affair with Clinique Moisturisers at the beginning of this year when I bought the 3 step starter kit from feel unique. Since then I have not used any other face moisturiser as nothing makes my face feel as amazing as this moisturising. This love affair has made me drag Cal around all the beauty shops in Barcelona to find my favourite formulation... you know its love then!

My favourite eye cream is the Lush Enchanted Eye Cream. This became a firm favourite of mine right from the start as it is so thin it sinks into the skin within minutes so it is a perfect product to use before applying makeup. It really brightens the eye area and makes me look like I have had a better sleep then I actually have. This makes it a perfect product for uneasy sleepers like me.

My favourite facial wash is the Clinique Liquid Facial Shop in Mild. Facial wash is something that I like to change up regularly as I tend to get bored of washes quickly, the clinque wash is a product I always end up going back to after I have tried something new out. It makes my face look and feel much cleaner and all round in better shape.

My favourite face scrub is the A-M-A-ZING Dr Organic Rose Otto Face Scrub. Oh my this scrub is the best face scrub I have ever used! You feel so clean and refreshed after using it and the amount of rubbish it scrubs off the your is amazing. It can leave you skin red sometimes but it doesn't last long and it means it worked.

My favourite face mask of the year is the Lush Mask of Magnanimity. I have spoke about this mask loads of times on the blog and I wrote a whole blog post on my Lush collection which includes it here. It is the perfect mask to use in the morning to wash up your skin and yourself.

I lastly have two favourite cleansers to end the post with. The first cleanser is the Lush Ultrabland Cleanser which is my holy grail when it comes to removing my make up. It melts away everything on my face so all I need to do is wipe my face with a flannel and I am done.  The second cleanser is the Lush Dark Angels cleanser which I love to use to cleanse my skin of dirt and to deep clean it.

Leave links to your favourite posts in the comments so I can read all your posts lovelies!
